If any of you own a Remington Muzzleloader, do not under ANY circumstances sell that gun until you talk to me first, Please.

That is all.

Because?????

Because few folks know what they have. They quit making them in 2004 I think. They are a great platform to convert to a smokeless muzzleloader. Pac Nor is making .45 caliber smokeless capable barrels for them (if they can keep up, they are way behind right now), and Boyd's makes a stock that fits. Just need the 'action' and a guy that knows how to convert them. I know several. If you are in a backwards, liberal, commie State that doesn't allow smokeless powder muzzleloaders, then you don't need that gun, and I do.

That's why~!! :usa

Archer has built two of these and is in the process of building his third. He built his first one about 3 years ago I think it was. If done correctly you will have about $1200.00 bucks in it, not including the scope and mounts.
I too am looking for a Remington Muzzleloader to build up a new rifle with.

Smokeless ML's have come a long way since I saw a guy shoot a ramrod a few inches left and low of center.......

Tightline!!! Who did that one for you?? Wow.

It's just the 700MLS camo model. The only mod is it uses muskett caps instead of no 11 caps. More fire. It works fine. Exelent trigger. A small pain to clean but our ml only last a week. For us working dufes, that converts to one weekend. It's all the ML I need. Very accurate.

Bucky, I thought you had one of those Savage smokeless units???

Yes. In .50 cal. I want a Remington action to convert to a .45 cal with a Pac Nor barrel. .50 is about 2350 fps with a 300g Barnes Original, the .45 I can get to about 2850 fps with a 195g Barnes Expander.

2850???? Heck fire, that's faster than I load my 165gr 30-06 rounds.
I'd wager that'll thump pretty good on both ends.
Don't you have a bad shoulder already?
:poke

Good luck with your search. Keep an eye out on gunsamerica.com and gunbroker.com.

Right now there is a stainless steel 700ml on gunsamerica.com.
Comes with what looks like Weaver scope mounts and rings.
$375 + $25 for shpping.

Also several up for "auction" on gunbroker.com.

Too much, but thanks.

I got a blued one for $175.00.........and can have it Duracoated at SJ Solutions here in Ark, or Blue Iced in Utah. It had some rust, but my guy is working on it and will bead blast it. So, I guess I'm not in market anymore.

If it had rust on the outside it would indicate abuse and neglect by the last owner. You can rest assured if it was rusted on the outside the INSIDE is rusted too. Replacing the barrel should take care of any land and grove problem you might have. Just get someone to really disassemble the action and go through it well.
Good luck on the build!

Thanks. You're right.

Just talked to my guy today. He said he's done dozens of builds, and this Remington is not good, but not worse than many he's done. He's going to work on it and have it bead blasted and nickel plated. The barrel is immaterial, it's going to be replaced anyway with a new .45 barrel. Stock gets thrown away. New breech plug. It's the action that's the concern. I think he has a handle on it. The seller had a great reputation on GunBroker.Com, so this tells you that you just never know. I emailed him and got a B/S reply. It was actually shipped LOADED!!! Just my luck, as you are all aware of quite well. My guy in Ohio that's working on it says he has seen worse, bought for more money, and he'll get it done right in the end.

He won't send it to me redone until all rust is gone inside and out.

Oh well. Just because Dex wouldn't sell me his stainless for twelve dollars. Dang Georgian.

.....the .45 I can get to about 2850 fps with a 195g Barnes Expander.

That's pretty good velocity. My .45 Hawken gets about 1650fps with 240gr Maxi-Balls......and Black Powder.

Archer has been pushing his .45 over 3,000 fps and I think has gotten it up to 3,200 and still feels comfortable with it. Which is fast enough to out drag a Chevy.....
Take care, Captain

Woo. Some guys that do duplex loading have gotten up to that. Is he loading duplex? Course, it also matters what bullet you shoot. Fast is good. Accuracy is good. But bullet performance is paramount. However you get that bullet into the animal, it has to do its job. That's why I stopped shooting ballistic tips in muzzleloaders, and really in much of anything. They do great, till they miss bone@!

Did Archer build his own? I assume it's a Remington base?

Anyway, I talked to the guy and he is confident he can get the rust out. Anyway, he has a plan.
