A couple of cool lunchmates!

I made myself a sammich and decided to sit on the front porch (open porch) to eat my lunch. When I went out, there were a couple of Sandhill Cranes feeding in the front yard. Cool birds .. they seem almost tame and milled around the yard within 10-15 feet from me while I ate. I may name 'em Jack & Jill. ;)

They started feeding right in front of me while I ate my sammich.

Then the neighbor to the left of us started mowing his yard and they walked across the driveway ....

... to the neighbor's yard to the right of me.

Love the sound those things make even as they fly over.
Just noticing that your lawn needs mowing. :usa2

Ha! Nope .. my grass was just mowed actually ... what there is of it. I don't water ... but the summer rains will kick up soon, the bare spots will fill in and it will need mowed every 5 frigging days! The neighbor on the right needs his mowed (last pic). A couple weeks ago his mower crapped out and it's in the shop with parts on order (tie rod for the steering mechanism broke).

If those things keep coming back, you won't need to mow. They can absolutely destroy a lawn. A buddy of mine had them coming into his yard and they completely tore it up with all their digging and scratching.
