I've been reading pulp this summer mainly, and just finished re-reading the Aubrey Maturin series for the third dang time, so I decided it was time for something with a little more meat on its bones. Found this history book by David McCullough called 'Brave Companions' that is pretty dang good. Its about people in history that you might not ordinarily think about but when you learn what they did, they're probably the ones that should be in history books at school. It's really a collection of essays the guy has written over the years about people. I'm through three of them and they are really interesting. First one was Alexander Humbolt, who I'd heard about, the second was Louis Agassiz, who I hadn't but was a big impact on American history, and the third is about Harriet Beecher Stowe who was an amazing lady. There are several more that I'm looking forward to getting into.

If you like history, this is a good one to put on your summer list.
