Will be taking the family out to visit Glacier National Park next week and can hardly wait.

Have been staging stuff in the garage for a week now, have both the bear spray & pistol packed, with plans to hit the road no later then 6 AM Monday. The only planned event we have is a 1/2 day trail ride followed by a 1/2 day of whitewater rafting otherwise we intend to go wherever the wind takes us each day with the intent of seeing the countryside and the area's critters as well as a fair bit of hiking too.

Given my oldest is a senior next year this MIGHT be our last real family vacation so it is sort of a bittersweet trip but rest assured, we will have fun.

Hike Grinnell, Hike Iceberg. Go sit at the little pond about a 1/4 mile from Swift Current Lodge?? I think and watch meeses feeding. Keep away from the we todds that get betwixt mama meese and her baby meese. Drink a Moose Drool while sitting watching the meese.

What heat is you gonna pack? More fer the bears or the we todds?

Bwana and his family stopped by for a visit on their way to Glacier. It was great to see him and his family again. My word how his kids have grown. That oldest boy of his is a hoss and I wish he were playing football for us! I hope they have a really good trip.

We hiked to Hidden Lake & Mary/Virginia Falls, ate supper at Rising Sun & had huckleberry flavored pie or ice cream for dessert in West Glacier. Saw bighorns, mountain goats, & marmots but no bears or moose yet.

It was great to see Troy & his lovely wife, who was kind enough to sign copies of her last two books for me. After hearing what a wonderful area he lives in my youngest has his heart set on some serious trout fishing with Troy before too long.

What a day!! Though we were supposed to get rain we decided to go for a longer hike in what we were told was THE place to go to see critters...it did not disappoint. We did a 10 mile hike to Iceberg Lake, saw some Awesome country, plus a moose, a black bear, & THREE grizzlies!!!

It is truly amazing what the good Lord has put on earth for us to see!

You are correct it is either Snow or ice glaciers.

At Iceberg Lake there are numerous snow bergs floating around the lake that never do melt.

The youngest boy was going to take a swim but chickened out when others kept showing up & all he had to swim in was his underwear.

Ten miles. TEN MILES!!! Man oh man. 10 M I L E S. :hororr:
IF I keep working and working on my treadmill, maybe I'll be able to try that trail when/if we ever get out that way.
(I'm up to about .6 miles in 30 mins now....LOL.)

Thanks for posting up the pics, John.
Truly some of God's best handiwork out there. Looks like y'all are on the top of the world!

I am guessing that even though it is late July/early August, that the temps were a little cool?

By the way.......the wildflower shot is killer!!!
