Just read where the new GMC Sierra 1500 has a model rated for 9000 lb's of towing.
Maybe worth looking at.

Still not the "Max Trailer Package" due 'Fall 2013'. It's rumored to go to 12,000.............but we'll see. Has 9.76" axle, EcoTec3 6.2L with 4.10 gears should pull a house off the foundation.

That's what I'm waiting on. 3 dealers can't tell me when it's coming.

Lemme see here .... pricey camper, pricey monster truck, 8-10 mpg under load @ $3.50-$4.00/gal, maintenance/insurance ... dang, I'm thinkin' Motel 6 and a Toyota! :D

Just razzin' ya' Bucky ... it's my job. I do have a buddy (I know, I know ... so I know people!) who owns the local Chevy dealer. I seriously doubt he knows anything more than everyone else ... he's more of the "money man" than a hands-on dealer and has managers to run the place.

I can send a quick e-mail, but I have no idea if he's in town or not and we're leaving town for a week or so ourselves on Thursday morning.

Again (I said this before) ... drop the name Rick Hendrick to Cappy ... if ANYBODY knows anything, Rick will (and Cappy knows him personally). Same deal though ... Rick is an EXTREMELY busy man, but approachable.

Cappy is off somewheres........I'll bug him when he gets back.

Strange but I can build a 1500 on the GMC Canada site with the "Max Trailer Package" http://www.gm.ca/gm/english/vehicles/gmc/sierra/model-detail01-available-packages#ui-accordion-header but not on the GM USA site.

If you go into 'build' you can select the 6.2 and the 3.73 axle ratio (no 4.10 that I can see) which puts you into the "Max" package. http://configurator.autodata.gm.ca/GMCanada/buildYourVehicle.html?lang=en

No comments on prices please. I know we're being screwed up here.

Is the 6.2 liter the biggest they make? Wonder why they don't make the old 454's any more? Those ramped up over 500 HP in their prime. and that was before the technology they have today.

My 2001 2500HD has the replacement for the old 454 - the 496ci (8.1l) which was a big improvement. They stopped putting it in pickups not soon thereafter (I think they wanted to sell more diesels) but it still has extensive use in marine and rv applications. A great motor especially when coupled to the Allison tranny.

Yep, I think it was a Crownline that a friend of mine has that has a 454 engine in it. I know this, it'll flat git. A lot faster than I want to go on the water too. And that's no small hull it's shoving around either.

Use your imagination Buckster. I put in an Edmonton postal code and it lets me in. Try T5A 0A1

Sheeesh! How did you hold a job long enough to retire? ;)

Try clicking on "choose a vehicle"!

Oh. Well why didn't you say so?

Well, that still is not what I want. The 2500 HD just has the 6.0L engine. I want the new 6.2L EcoTec3 engine (L86) with the Max Trailer Towing Package with the new 9.76" axle. Don't see that option configuration yet.

I don't think they know when it will be done. Something is apparently holding it up. Not sure what. But they apparently prematurely announced that configuration. Just not available in North America yet.

Here: I want the L86 Engine and NHT Option:

Strange, The Canadian GMC configurator for the Sierra 1500 SLT allows me to select the 6.2 and the 3.73 rear which automatically makes it the "Max Trailer Package" with all the other goodies added. Tried to do the same on the USA site (used 72032 ZIP) and no dice. Guess the Canadians are more up to date. :D
