This kind'a caught my eye as I was walking up the trail. Thought I'd better snap a photo of it so I could share.

A little further down the trail this little guy jumped up on a log to say hello.

I have some more photos I will post a little later of old mining equipment and an old miner's cabin we found once we were waaaaay back in there. In the mean time here is the scariest animal that was on the trail. I had my daughter with me and she took this photo as we were on our way back out. All in all in was a great way to spend Labor Day.

At 94 degrees shorts are a matter of survival not a fashion statement.

Not.

I'll be in the woods starting Saturday for about 10 days. It'll be above 90 every day. I wouldn't consider wearing shorts!! I'd get eaten alive.

You're just a Cool Dude, man. Admit it. :)

Hah, I can agree with that! Been scorching around here the last few weeks as well.

Beautiful part of the world you live in. As always I am jealous.

Bucky if you were out here with less bugs and had to go on a 7.5 mile hike in 94 degree weather I'm pretty sure you'd reconsider your attire. You'd wind up with monkey butt/crotch rot so bad that it would exceed any pain the bugs might inflict.

It was bumping 100 for most of last week but it broke on Monday morning, the day Keith and I were out fishing. (in shorts of course) Nighttimes have dropped now to 61 this morning and highs in the low 90's. Pretty dang good weather for dog days. Only about two more weeks of this and we'll be in the 80's and starting what I hope is a good long cool fall.

No matter the temp, I couldn't wear shorts in the woods here. Everywhere else, yes. But there are too many things that will bite, eat, scratch, poke, cut, and stick you here. There's not enough bandaids.

Methinks the last reason is the main reason. ;)
