Weird and Cool Stuff

I have a hammer coral in my new aquarium setup (actually set up in February but it's still in the 'new' stage) called a 'frogspawn'. anyway, this morning as I was sitting here working I noticed the damn thing was spawning. First time I've ever had a coral spawn in any of my aquariums. Now its all deflated. Must have took a lot of energy to do that but there's still a couple of cool looking egg sacs still attached. These are animals in the truest sense of the word, but after a while you get to thinking of them as plants because of the way they look and grow. This is just cool as hell.

We'll have to wait and see if any of those eggs hatch. I have no idea if this is asexual reproduction or not. If so, then I'll pass out cigars! It'll be my luck a bunch of baby Patricks will grow in there.

I think he watched it ovulate, or ejaculate, or give birth, or something. I'm pretty sure the other happened first (or didn't)?

According to Wikipedia, "Individual heads grow by asexual reproduction of polyps. Corals also breed sexually by spawning: polyps of the same species release gametes simultaneously over a period of one to several nights around a full moon." Now do you know what happened? Me either.
