Started Out Deer Season Early With A New Weapon

So last night was one of bitter/sweet emotions. I traveled 200 miles round trip to watch my son's high school team beat the number 1 ranked team in the state. (We were ranked #5, but we are now #1 after last nights game.) So I'm riding home on that high, when less than a 1/4 mile from town a STUPID whitetail fawn decides to try and decorate my wife's car as a hood ornament. I dead centered that sucker. While a Toyota Corolla kills deer just fine it doesn't hold together as well as my pick up would have. Kind'a like unbonded bullets vs bonded bullets. Wifey is at the auto-body shop as I type this. I await to hear how many $$$ its gonna cost. Stupid, stupid, stupid deer!!! :pissed

Ouch! Your fawns are as big as our large does... Bet that left a mark! Sorry to hear about this.

No he meant "not" I bet. It appears he is upset that they did not move up higher after such a win.

Well, always good to kill a whitetail with a small caliber weapon I guess.

Nice catch Thump. Froidian slip I suppose after "not" being ranked #1 for so long. Just got a call on the car. Apparently that little fart caused $2500.00 worth of damage. I wanted say he weighed around 65 lbs or so. At least that's what I'm guessing as I picked him up and tossed him like a discus off the side of the road. Wasn't too happy right at that moment.

Good grief. We have killed a TON of doe when we were on the DMAP program, and had to, that didn't weigh more than that by much. And most were very mature.

Does around here run 125-150 lbs. The fawn was about half grown.

I've killed 150 lb does. But half grown ones are 'yearlings' or 2nd year ones. Fawns have spots.

Just different terminology. When we got in DMAP, the 'real' biologists used terms for deer I'd never used. But y'all have way bigger deer than we ever will...though I've personally seen and touched a 275 lb whitetail............

Buckrub it still had spots, not a yearling, just half the size of an adult doe. Yearlings around here are pretty much 3/4 the size of an adult.

Size sounds comparable to the deer around here.
