Gave some consideration to shooting this doe early this morning. Figured I'd wait till it got a little lighter to see if a big momma or mossy horns showed up. Good thing I waited. I can now make out little buttons on his heid....
Maybe it will serve as a good decoy for something else?

Ha! Not no, but heck no!

Well.... I might consider $2000.00 for it. :D

Damn that's a lot more than the 5 dollars I gave for the one in the picture. And it came with 2 barrels!

Nice job on the doves. I've got a Belgian Sweet Sixteen.. It was my granddad's. It was my go-to pheasant gun until the Red Label edged out about 30 years ago. Buddy has his granddad's Model 12 16 so we have a 16 memorial hunt one day a year.

Wish I lived closer. I've got my dads 16Ga. Fox model B and would love to join the crowd... :-) The humpback browning I'm shooting is the one I call my 5 dollar Browning. Back about 83 or 84 the local Law Enforcement was raffling off this shotgun and I bought 5 tickets for 5 bucks and won it. It is a Jap made humpback and came with 2 barrels. But it sure has been a goodin' Sent from my iPhone using Forum Runner

Mine is a Belgium Light 12. Belonged to my Dad.

I also have a Parker Bros double that I have never shot. If I remember correctly is was made about 1918 or so???? I'd have to recheck the serial. I think it is a 16ga as well. Dad got it from one of his great uncles. It was in very rough shape, and he sent of off to (I think) Pachmeyer(sp?) to be refurbished.....this was in the late 70's/early 80's. It sure is a good looking unit now. I might shoot it one day....but I just don't do much shotgunning.
If I remember correctly, JB said that those old Parkers had 2.5" chambers instead of 2.75"....I really need to take it to a gunsmith who knows Parkers and have it checked out and appraised. One of these days.

That would be a great addition Cap'n. I just gave a Belgian Light 12 to my SIL. I've got kind of an old oddball in 16. Anyone ever heard of a Darne? I accumulated it in a trade on some L.C. Smiths. It's one I'd probably send down the road if I could get the right price.. and one of the few guns I own I have virtually no idea what it's worth.

So then, did you get it for a Darne good deal? ;)

I've got a 20 ga. LC Smith double that my Mom gave my Dad for Christmas the first year they were married, and I also have an Ithaca 16 ga. Flues model made in 1917 according to the serial number. That one belonged to my great-grandpa.

Only one I've got that looks like that, is a Remington 12 on the Browning Patent.

Only one I've got that looks like that, is a Remington 12 on the Browning Patent. Don't think so Remington did not make a Model 12, Winchester did. Remington's auto loading shotgun built under Brownings A-5 patent was a Model 11. If you got one stamped model 12 I'd like to buy it.... :D I've had several model 11's over the year. Perhaps you meant it was a 12 ga. But you did not denote that....

Sorry, meant "12 gauge". Thanks for the correction. I call all twelve gauges a '12'. Just semantics. It's a Remington model 11 on the Browning A5 patent.

I also have a Model 12 Winchester, and a Model 1897, both 12 gauge. And a pile of 1100's. And a Remington Model 17 20 gauge pump, made in 1925 I believe.

I've got a couple LC 12s and one 20. Rub - I have my Dad's Model 11 "Sportsman" in 20 ga. Has a solid rib and only holds three shells. Got a "blued-receiver" Ruger Red Label - they tell me is pretty rare. An old "Lightning" Superposed in 20 ga. Have my Great Grandad's Remington dog-eared 12 and and my Grandad's Stevens hammergun. Also have a sawed-off WW Greener that was the guard's gun at the Citizens Bank of Wapello.

You know - speaking of Remington pumps - I had a Model 10 for a short time. I used to do a lot of buy/sell/swapping and my adopted uncle talked me out of it because he had one when he was a kid. You think a Model 12 has a smooth action.. that old Remington was "slick".

Dang - I have a lot of stuff I ought to dump before my kids get stuck with it. ;)

I had a Parker SXS 16ga. and took it down, a few years ago, for the famous "Rabbit Camp" at Captains place.
It was more a shooter than collector and sold it last year to someone who really wanted it.
My "hunting shotguns" are down to a sweet little Savage 311 SXS in 410, a Browning 20ga BPS Upland Special, a beautiful 12ga. Ithaca Model 37 I got from Captain. My other 3 12ga shotguns are made for Trap Shooting.
I just don't get out in the field that much anymore. :>(

JB - About 30 years ago my "dream gun" was a Model 21 Winchester 20 and I hit every gun show in the country trying to find a "bargain" on one. Looking back I should have bought every one I found.. Anyway - I passed on a Parker 16 SxS that *was* a bargain. I've kicked myself often since.
