My oldest son came up from college for the weekend for a visit. We promised each other while he was here we would go fishing. So down to the local creek we go, and this is the very first fish he pulls out of the water. For a tiny creek this is one seriously nice brown trout!

Not to be completely outdone I managed to land this rainbow a short time later. Man, fall colors of browns and rainbows have to be my favorite fall colors of all. ;)

We then went on to catch a pile of fish. Most were sixteen inches or better. Here's a photo of what many of the browns looked like. While not the same size as the big one my son caught they are very respectable, especially fish for a tiny creek that I could walk across. You just have to love their vibrant fall spawning colors.

We had so much fun we went back to town and got my youngest son so he could get in on the action. He's still not to sure about grabbing on to fish, but he sure did enjoy catching them.

As the day wore down I just couldn't resist taking one last photo of my oldest son fishing, just before we called it quits, and headed in to town for the Homecoming football game. What a great weekend! Life is good.

You live in heaven!
What a great day...
That top picture of your oldest son has got to be some serious competition to Co-9's bass picture. The picture of the fish on the rocks is awesome too!
Take Care, Captain

Really nice, Troy! Is that the son we used to see with a football helmet on all the time about ready to ring somebody's bell?

Does anyone else know about this place? Those are some fine fish for that little creek.
You have some mighty fine eating there also.

First off thank you for all the kind words. I definitely do not take for granted where I live and what this state has to offer. I LOVE MONTANA!

BKB, nope that would be my second oldest that loved football. My third oldest is ripping things up as our school's starting center this year. Unfortunately he injured his hand in the game Friday night. We are taking him in to the Doc today to see if it is broken or not. Regardless of how it turns out I sure hope he can still play.

Bass Pro and/or Cabela's probably have "house brands" that are just as good.

Niner are those things scented or just plain old plastic worms? Have you tried them on trout? They sure look like they should work.

Back when we lived on the north side of A-town we used to go trout fishing on the river prolly two weekends a month from March to September.

These are just little 3" or so plastic worm. The way we'd fish them was to cast it 45deg upstream and let it bounce along the bottom until its downstream from you. The hit will often come as the line is straightening out down stream.

And if you loose the rig due to hanging up on the bottom, you've only lost about 25 cents.
