Seeing my beautiful personage holding a huge bronzeback! OK, maybe a little tiresome :D This is my biggest fish this year. right at 19" I've hit this mark a few times but the 20 incher still eludes me. It's all about the pursuit.

What does a 19 incher weigh? 4 and a half sounds about right? That's a damn nice fish, Len!

Man I love fishing in the fall.

That's a goodin' right there Lenster!
Niner and I have been fishing as much as hunting and we caught the bass busting schools of minnows the other afternoon and it was on. For about an hour we had some pretty heavy action...
Congrats on a great say. I'm eat up jealous.
Take Care, Captain

I was gonna ask you dufes about weight. For some odd reason all fisherman around here refer to largemouth in weight and smallies in length.

This one was a football, for sure. It jumped a good 3 feet from the water, never seen anything like it. I'm lucky I didn't lose him since i was sitting there slack jawed after he jumped the first time :)

According to: http://fishandboat.com/images/pages/fishin1/weightlength3.pdf

A 19 inch smallmouth weighs about 3.5 lbs, which I believe is accurate.

You're welcome.

I've weighed 18 1/2" smallies that went 3 and a half. I've weighed 18 /12" smallies that bumped 4. I think it depends. But I think that scale is a bit low, at least for the smallies I've caught in that range and they were all canadian shield fish. It may be that river fish run a little less, I dunno.

I have a good scale on a set of boga grips. I guess I need to use it more!

I've got a 23" largemouth hanging on my wall that weighed just a tick over 5 lbs. The thing was almost square, it was 23" long and had a girth of 21".

Those fish are what I go to sleep remembering most nights when I'm falling asleep.

Interesting chart here. Not all the citations are weighed, but most 20" (and a few 19") were at least 5lbs.
