Waaaay back when my bride and I were living in the Va Beach area, the in-laws would frequently have an oyster steaming party (Hell, I forget what they called it now.). They'd dig a pit in the backyard, and put a bunch of coals in it. Then put a grate on top with a bunch of FRESH Chesspeake Bay oysters. Then cover the whole deal with wet burlap sacks.

They always did this in the dead of winter for some reason. With LOTS of beers being consumed.

Ain't nothing better than an oyster shucking.
My newest "neighbors" who live down the road just retired down my way and built a log cabin on the lake. They're from va beach.
He gets his son to pick up oysters from there and bring them to him when he visits.

He makes them the EXACT same way niner.

Large quantities of beer are also consumed.

Prolly done in the winter cause those are the "R" months.

Real good stuff!

The key phrase in all of those scenarios is, "Large quantities of beer are consumed!" Ya' has ta' be drunk on your butt to swallow one o'those nasty, slimy things!

As far as ketchup on a steak? That should be punishable by prison time ... or commitment to a psycho ward! ;)

Boiled peanuts? If there is a heaven, I'd have to assume they were "heaven sent"! :D

I don't like boiled peanuts. They taste awful. That means I have good taste buds. But I don't mind if YOU eat 'em.

I like ketchup. I like it on a lot of stuff, mostly meat. But you elitists (that belittle the 'liberals' for that VERY trait) can't stand that I do it. That's "turn up your nose at me" stuff. I'm a Neanderthal and Ugly to Boot, if I do it. You can't say "I don't like it, but hey go ahead". NOPE. You gotta tell me I should be jailed, or shot, or something. This SAME guy will turn on his own kind, and claim that you can't possibly like oysters!!!

Now, I ain't sure which of us belong in a psycho ward, but the guy who likes what he eats and is tolerant of whatever YOU like, is probably not the right one to be sending there...............

Party-pooper! Sometimes you take life too seriously. ;)

Buckrub

Hang on.

POP.

Had to dislodge my tongue from my cheek to type this. Sorry.

Possibly the seriousness of life is for the most part an inference rather than an implication! You reckon??
