On my way to Sheridan for a conference but I'm going to stop At the Little Big Horn Battlefield on my way. I've read about it but never been there so am looking forward to it.

I am also looking forward to the long peaceful drive all by myself. There was snow on the ground when I left home but the sun is shining here in sunny Montana.

Nice place. I get along with the state of Wyoming just about as well as I do Montana. Both states are paradise for the outdoorsman. Enjoy your trip.

Bwana, didn't we hunt on a place where Custer and his troops were stationed right before he left for the Little Big Horn? Seems also we went by his house out there too?
That was some very cool country. Hope to get to see it again one day.

Isn't Miles City where Gus died in Lonesome Dove?

You are correct on both accounts Cappy.

Looking down from atop Last Stand Hill. Custer's marker is the dark colored one in the center.

Yep while headed back to Oggalia (sp?)
I hated that Robert Duvall is one of my favorite actors. And Robert E. Lee'a great grandson!

I've always wanted to see that place. A really good western fiction writer that writes about the Sioux War and what happened after the Battle at Little Big Horn is a book called 'Trumpet on the Land' by Terry C. Johnston. It's fiction but its good stuff.
