So here in OK we have a special doe season in late December and I want to shoot one with my .357 mag. Does anybody have any bullet suggestion?

I assume you're talkin' 'bout a RIFLE?

Don't know if you're talkin' factory rounds or hand loads. (?) Or handgun or rifle. (?)

That said, I have a buddy who swears by his .357 (Marlin lever action). I don't remember persactly what he shoots, but I know it's made by Hornaday and .357 Mag. The ammo's called "lever-sumpin'" if I remember correctly. (150 gr?) I'll see if I can find it.

Yep, that's it. Just found it at Midway. One goofy word for a name, "LEVERevolution' ... 140 gr. ('course our "big" deer look like babies)

Looks like a lot of 5-star ratings. That's all he shoots, but I've never shot 'em personally.

A semi - pointed bullet made to go in tubular magazines where they are stacked end to end. Always have been blunt nosed till these, for safety.

Yeah, they have some sort'a plastic tip or sumpin'.

I popped a nice fat doe with my .357 revolver and dropped her in her tracks. Probably not a fair comparison as I got excited and spined her at 10 yards. If my power ever comes back on, I'll go downstairs and check what I was using.

I am talking about using my revolver, it has a 8" barrel.

125 grain Jacket Hollow Point in front of 15.5 grains of Blue Dot powder and a Winchester small pistol primer.
I have shot a lot of bucks and Does both with this load out of an Model 27 Smith and Wesson.
I cannot remember the muzzle velocity but I did send some through a Chronograph when I was working up the load. Seems like it was over 1500 feet per second.

My Dad dropped a big doe a few years ago with off the shelf Winchester Silvertips.

Cappy, I don't reload are there any factory bullets you would recommend? Deputy do know how heavy the bullet was?

It's been awhile, but I'll see if I still have a box of them around. I'll try to let you know tomorrow.
