What a bummer! Leaving to be a talking head for NBC I guess. wonder who'll be Junior's new crew chief? and this was his best year in a long time! Dang.

Read that yesterday .. dang ... right when Jr. was on a roll. I could prolly make a phone call and find out who's in the running for Crew Chief, but I'm buried right now (just returned from an estate sale with a truckload of crap). Hendrick has such a huge pool of talent on the payroll, he normally "promotes" from within.

I know a few guys who worked with him when he started out sweeping floors, so to speak. They all say he was a good kid and a pleasure to work with.

But, alas, NASCAR is a young man's sport. He's making a good decision if he wants anything resembling a normal life. The kind of travel and time restrictions on a crew member's life are incredible. Crew chief is even worse. Besides, if he was prudent with money he shouldn't be up against it for the rest of his life.

I can honestly say that I don't miss it. Not even a little bit.
