In Line Spinners

I'll move this to fishing tomorrow.

Gonna build an inline spinner box and need somecsuggestions on what needsto go in it. Include sizes. Species I'll fish for will be Kentuckies ans smallies. I'll keep a bucktail or two for pike but the main deal is bass. And big bluegill too.

Rooster tails and joe's flies. Bluegill love them and you can get some pretty big smallmouth on them for such a small lure.

Mepps has a line good inline spinner. Does this include the Little George or Stump Jumper type spinners?

Terminator makes one that has my interest in trying, although as is typical of Terminator they want six bucks apiece for them so I'mclooking for a cheaper brand. These have an offset shank hook instead of a treble so you fish a grub with it and it has an in line spinner in front of it. Anybody used one of those?

And QA I never really thought of Little George as an inline but I guess it really is.

Another one that looks interesting is 'The Mangler'. .99 cents. My kind of price.

The Rapala minnow spins are killer for smallmouth in streams. The bronze colors typically work the best for me. Rare to catch a bluegill on them though.

Do you use a keel sinker in front of your inline spinners to stop line twist? Gotta admit I'm not a fan of spinners unless it's a spinner rig trolled behind a bottom bouncer. Whole nuther ballgame, I guess.

Most of the inlines we use in these parts, at least the ones I've used, are small, like 1/8th oz or 3/16. That usually doesn't twist line too awful much. I guess those big inlines with bucktails that they pull up north for pike and such would be 1/2 oz or more wouldn't they?

I occasionally use small spinners for trout and find that even then I get line twist (4lb test usually) but since casts are short it's not too bad. What I usually do is use a short dropper (1 ft) off a small keel sinker ( 1/4 to 3/8 oz or so) and it works great. Gives a little extra weight for longer casts but might also hang up more so it's trade off.
