I think it was Bucky that recommended Superman: Man of Steel. Watched it this weekend and it was awesome. Finally a movie that really takes the sci fi approach to the Superman story. And well done too! Lots of A listers in there.

I also watched the other Transformers movie this weekend. Yeah, it snowed here can you tell? the one thing I was impressed by was the size of the balls on that one transformer. Looked like a giant set of trucknutz. I had no idea transformers were anatomically correct. They didn't seem to be when my little brother played with them when he was a kid. (I was too old for that genre).

Hm. May consider Superman. Hadn't before. Just got the Sony 4k TV, so looking for good SF movies to watch on it. The selection is rather limited at the moment. Probably not worth the money.

There's a bit of good sci fi out there. enders Game will be out soon on DVD if it isn't already. Oblivion with (gag) Tom Cruise is a good little sci fi movie. Prometheus is good, and if those don't float yer boat there's a ton of old stuff that holds up with time pretty well.

You'll like that Superman flick.

I bought Oblivion and Prometheus. It's getting more and more difficult to watch tom cruise movies though, with his scientology and his craziness taking me out of the moment.
Honestly? The best 4k content I've seen so far is "bridge on the river kwai".

What Bucky said. It's (roughly) 4x the resolution of a 1080p TV, or about the same resolution as 35mm film. There are multiple formats (of course) competing for victory and not much content out there at the moment. I have a Sony device that Sony streams movies to. Outside of having 4k content, the TV has an up-converter which interpolates 1080p content and is actually very good. To my untrained eye, up-converted 1080p content and 4k content are persactly the same, equally awesome.

After having read a bunch of information online, I think it might be *impossible* to tell the difference on a 65" TV if you are sitting more than 7 feet away.

Outside of ESPN, you can't even get anything in 1080P.........in fact, very little is in 1080i. For the foreseeable future, if you buy a 720p HD TV, you probably are going to get most content at the highest that they are transmitted at.

I really would have thought that by now, ALL content would be HD, at least 720p. But much isn't. And of course, there's always old movies, etc.
