A few years back, I found an excellent price for Advantage (flea control) for the cats. They also sell Frontline, etc. I buy in "bulk" and with 6-8 cats, it usually lasts about a year. Well, we're out as of tonight (just treated the cats) and I went to their website to reorder. (they're out of Pompano Beach, Florida)

Can the gov't actually "seize" a frigging website/domain? Sounds like somebody f'd up big-time. Maybe that's why their prices were so good!

Anyway, when I went to their website, I got this message:

Any website that you can buy medication for your pussy in bulk quantity.... it should raise a red flag.

It wasn't any different than the same offerings on eBay really, they just gave a money-saving option. They sell the Advantage for dogs over 55 lbs, but have a chart to break it down for cats (based on weight). The chemical make-up for cats and dogs is persactly the same, but Advantage says NOT to use the dog stuff on cats (I assume just so they can charge more). The previous company said it's b/s as there is no difference (which I verified on the net). Like most everything, the bulk packs are cheaper than the smaller packs for the same stuff. They'd send little bottles to keep the excess product in and hypodermics to administer the correct dosage. It all worked out to be quite a savings. Basically, we'd use a single dose for a 55+ lb. dog and break it down to treat 4-5 cats.

I'm buying more on eBay tonight (for 55+ lb. dogs) and I'll simply use the chart/dosage the other place sent us and accomplish the same thing ... just a bit higher on price.

You are lucky none of your cats have died.
There's been many animals died, because of counterfeit advantage and frontline flea meds.

Shush Sonny! Don't tell Lynn. I planned on telling her they "caught a bug". ;)

This stuff always looked VERY legit ... no improper grammar or misspelled words in the directions, etc. and the packaging (including tubes) looked authentic. There was NOTHING to indicate "counterfeit" product. It appears more like they were avoiding taxes somehow. It could have been legit product intended for export, but was being "re-routed" and sold domestically. It worked just like Advantage is supposed to work and we've bought from this place for the last 3-4 years (maybe longer, can't remember). With 6-8 cats here at all times, the odds are there was no problem with the product itself, just the company selling it. Who knows?

Our vet warned us on the counterfeit Advantage as well. Even said to watch out for the stuff at the big box retailers. I know she has a vested interest in us buying it from her, bue she's always been a straight shooter and her prices are very reasonable.
