ST. LOUIS -- The Cardinals may have jump-started their offense on Sunday, but that apparently didn't stop the organization from adding two players on Monday as the club seeks a sustained spark.

Outfielder Randal Grichuk and infielder Greg Garcia will join the Cardinals for their series against Milwaukee. After dismissing questions about possible roster changes three days ago, general manager John Mozeliak confirmed that Kolten Wong and Shane Robinson were sent to Triple-A.

Grichuk confirmed the Major League callup, the first of his career, in a tweet late Sunday night:

Grichuk, who can play any of the three outfield spots, was batting .313/.356/.542 through 20 games with Memphis. He had 12 extra-base hits, 17 RBIs and was batting .400 against left-handed pitching. With Peter Bourjos -- who, along with Grichuk, was acquired from the Angels in a November trade -- scuffling, Grichuk could be in line to get significant starting time at least against lefties.

Garcia was leading Memphis with five home runs and batting .277/.362/.544 while splitting time at second and short. He can also play third base. The left-handed-hitting infielder is also earning his first promotion to the big leagues.

The Cardinals opened the season with plans to have Wong step in as the team's everyday second baseman. He closed spring strong and finished with a Grapefruit League average of .375. Success has been fleeting since, however. Wong had four hits in his past 28 at-bats and was rapidly losing starts to Mark Ellis, who is now healthy.

Robinson was carried on the club as a fifth outfielder and had two hits in 20 at-bats this season. He last played at Memphis in 2012 but did have one option year remaining.
