I have a tendency to go for comfort foods of my youth and got on a dill pickle binge lately. PIcked up a jar of these bad boys at the local gorcery and they are spciy as all get out. They'll put a signficant fire in your mouth and taste really good to boot!

Why does it take 'em 8 days to put 'em in the jar???....I bet they could do it in 7 days, if they really tried. ;)

I may have to check those out myself. I kind of agree with Eddie though. My first reaction was that 8 days doesn't seem significant enough to be worthy of marketing space on the label.

You start eating those pickles with ice cream and we'll get real worried. :D

John, I always eat ice cream after I have spicy Thai food. My fave is homemade Thai coconut ice cream with roasted, crushed peanut sprinkles. You can usually hear me sitting on the throne the next day, with flames coming from my butt, hollering, "COME ON ICE CREAM"!!! :D

Awww, come on, Thump....what, no olive oil on that Thai ice cream???....you are the one who got me started on that kick....my family STILL thinks I'm crazy for doing that !!!

They just don't know what they're missing. ;)

Huh??? You must have me confused with someone else Edward. I've never heard of such a thing and to be honest, it sounds pretty gross and I'd have to agree with your family. Now, chocolate sauce ... that's a whole 'nuther story! ;)

You been hittin' Cappy's brown liquor supply? 'Bout the only thing I put olive oil on is my salad. Lynn cooks some things with it, but that's about as far as it goes. I know it's not the same thing, but I can't stand olives! Hate 'em! Same goes for green bell peppers. Heck, if I pick up a pizza to take home, I've been pissed off to the max at times because if there was a pizza with bell peppers next to mine, ALL I taste is those damn bell peppers! BARF! It's about the same I have to say about olives. If I'm served a salad with olive pieces, I'll spend a dang hour pickin' 'em out before I eat it! (I know that's not the same as olive oil, but you got me started) ;)

Eddie, I am the gent that mentioned olive oil & sea salt on good vanilla ice cream. Sound gross but ya'll should give it a try.

Thumper

Olive oil and sea salt??? What kind'a Yankee concoction is that? I think I'll stick with a bit of Hershey's Chocolate Syrup and crushed peanuts on my 'Nilla ice cream thank you. :D

I suppose it's one'a those taste thingies ... Lynn loves those chocolate candies with sea salt. But then, she also prefers dark chocolate over milk chocolate. I think she's nutzoid!

Thank you, Bwana.

Thumper, we discovered the combination during one of our ethnic cooking nights. If I remember correctly it was a Greek thing but I could be mistaken. Try it, you WILL like it.

Back to the original subject. I bought some the Claussen hot and spicy, if you eat them with something they're just right but if you eat them by themselves they will light you up. I handle hot and spicy better than most and they're raht warm. Bet they'd be great a a big old juicy burger

Thumper

.... raht warm ....

Just curious Q/A ... was that a typo? (raht)

Something I heard my dad say a zillion times and something I'll never forget, is ... he would (jokingly) for instance, tell me to do something ... then he'd say, "And I don't mean RIGHT now .... I mean RAHT now!" (no clue how it would be spelled ... but it was pronounced "RAT")

I lost my dad a few years back and it put a smile on my face when I read that. :)

Haha, my Dad, too, Thump....especially when he was calling me over for a butt-whooping....his favorite was, "Git yo azz raht chere, raht now. "

Ha ha! Might be a "southern thing". Funny, one thing I'll always remember about my grandmother was she'd say, "Well I swan"! (or maybe "I'll swan?) She was very religious and as a kid, I just figured she thought "swear" was a swear word! Then one day a few years back, P-hole made a post where he wrote, "Well I swan" and I 'bout flipped out as I'd NEVER heard that term other than from my grandmother. Funny the things you can learn from ol' Al Gore's internet! ;)

My grandmother use to say, I'll Swan-ie as in "Suwannee River"

That reminds me, I plan on whipping up two batches of the Sweet & Spicy pickle recipe that Big Muddy posted sometime back for my son's graduation party. Just need to find some tarragon vinegar.
