A Buddy of mine was metal detecting at a old house place on our farm and found this?
When did the Boy Scouts use this as their emblem????
Something don't pass the smell test, but I swear it's original and old. You can tell it's been buried for years.

Take Care, Captain

Looks like an early 1900's 'good luck' badge produced by the Excelsior Shoe Co. probably for the U.K. Boy Scouts. There is some more info on line.

Wow. That is pretty cool! But how did something from the early 1900's from the UK get to an old farm house in North Carolina?
And I noticed it says Boys Scout Club, not Boy Scouts of America? Was it called "club" in the UK????
Neat info. Does not seem to be worth all that much but it's a neat find none the less.
Thanks

Been one listed on eBay for a week now for $9.99 and the auction is about to close with no bids so far. I'm really surprised they aren't worth more. I saw one at an estate sale a while back and they wanted a small fortune for it. I was shocked when I researched it and found out they aren't worth much. Still, a super cool find with a metal detector!

That's pretty cool. I had NO idea that Hitler copied so much stuff from the scouts...
Never too old to learn.

The osage indians use a swastika symbol for good luck too. First time I saw it it freaked me out a bit too.
Bythe way, hello from Arkansas.

Take a look at the symbol on the door frame. This is from a building in Split, Croatia. It was built inside what was the Roman Emporer Diocletian's retirement palace. It dates from the 4th century. You will probably have to zoom in on it to really see it.

That's cool... Guess it just sorta took me by surprise to see the swastika used on a Boy Scout metal. I never thought about it being before WWII.
It's just neat the stuff you live and learn.
