Well one pic says Lexington and the other Columbia. Sheeesh, they have about 3-4 rivers in that area. Where are you? I didn't even know they had Stripers up there! (or do you Tarheel hicks call 'em Rockfish?). Nice fishy by the way ... looks like a fun Father's Day so far.

Well, my family and I are at the lake house, celebrating Pappy's Day.
No pics, but we caught and filleted a cooler-full of big ole channel cats.

We ate rather good, too !!!3132

Haha, Thump....you just haven't been taught the correct way to eat them. ;).
You NEVER waste time peeling them....twist off the tail and suck out the tail meat .
I can twist and suck a tail in a nanosecond....easier than tossing popcorn in my mouth. ;)

Billy Joe Cross taught me to shuck crawdads. Ever heard of him? After all us Yankees were done and full I sat and watched a buncha coonasses stand around a 17 foot canoe full of mudbugs for hours and and only leave to pee or get more beer. Meingot them folks could eat crawfish.

No sheeit, Hide, you know Billy Joe!!!???
He's one of my best friends!!!
We used to hang out at some of the MS River fish camps and tourney crappie fish against each other many times.
He always fished, nearly exclusively, with Eddie Slater of Slater's Jigs fame.
He's a day'um good game and fish cook, and written several great cook books, too....I got autographed copies of all of 'em....day'um good and well-respected man.
Haven't see him in a while, but heard he's had a few health issues.

I haven't trotlined in years, but I put out twenty hooks tonight. I don't fish for ops, just want to catch some channel cat for the freezer. We'll see what happens. Lake Erling has so many cat that it has twice the statewide limit. If I do well, I'll put out another twenty.

Nice fish Captain! Is that your annual trip to the Pee Dee river?

You look good in pink by the way. Oris that peach?

Posty, that's the Saluda River in Columbia SC. I fish it 6 or 7 times a year. I don't think there is Stripers in the Pee Dee. At least not up next to my area?
That shirt is orange I think.
We had a good trip yesterday and I took 7 over 10 pounds and about 13 to 15 under 10 pounds.
Only 10 pound and over become "picture fish" :D

lol.. I thought you might know him. I've met him twice - both times at national DU conventions. Spent quite a bit of time with us on the mudbug deal. He knows a couple of good friends of mine pretty well. I have his "Cooking Game and Fish Mississippi Style". Poor old thing was used when I got it 25+ years ago and I've used it so much the pages are getting loose. I'd heard the same thing on health issues but nothing for awhile.
