Took my daughter to my inlaws so she could spend time with G&G along with a bunch of her cousins this week. While there the missus & I went for a ride in my mother-in-laws retirement gift to herself. Have to say it was sort of fun.

If that is a picture of your MIL, she sure is ugly..........but with that car, she should be able to pick up hunks.........:waving

So does that get passed down to one of her grand kids someday ??

Bucky as you know that is my ugly mug and as for young hunks the father in law may not like that idea.

Is that a retirement car? Or a mid-life crisis car? :D

Nice ride .. I went through two of 'em before I came to my senses. I could afford the cars (at THAT time), I just couldn't afford to keep tires on the dang things. Tell her to get ready for a real shocker ... (or be prepared to trade it after about 20,000 miles)

They sure are fun though.

The big question is though......WHERE in Noth Deeekota is she gonna find a paved road to drive it on????
:huh :huh :huh

Niner, funny you mention that as they actually have nearly two miles of gravel to drive before they get to the blacktop which really sucks with a clean car. As for tires, they know what they are in for as this 04 matches the 1970 the father in law has had for quite some time but the ride is much nicer.

I hope they never stop making them. A true American classic. I reember when Dale Jr and Sr drove a cab yellow Vette in the 24 hrs of Daytona. It was one of the few times I stayed up and watch most of that race.

I think the styling of the C5 'vettes was the absolute best of all the various vintages and I love the yellow. Smooth and sleek but she needs to find an insert to fill that gaping license plate hole in the front bumper.

not to hijack the thread but Johnboy brings up a interesting thought. Do most states require a plate on the front and the back? I know in Wisconsin where my grandparents lived they require it but here in OK we only have them on the back.

Indiana is back only, so is Michigan. Ohio has them both front and back and I think Illinois does too.

When I was in California, they were required front and back ... Florida is back only.

NC only require rear plates and SC require both front and back.

Although the newest Vet has some very fine lines, my interest in them quit after 1962, they went from a sports car to a two seat big ass boat.

For me it wasn't the size that turned me off, it was that damned duck tail. 63? 64? Its when they made it look like an Opel. The 58 is prolly my favorite model.

You know, I've tried real hard to like the new C7 and I just can't do it. It's butt ugly and that includes the Camaro rear end. I just get the feeling that it's trying too hard to look like an old Lambo Countach with it's hard lines and sharp angles. Sorry GM, epic fail IMHO.

The upcoming 'stang vert is kinda interesting, however.

A Mustang over a Corvette? Have you bumped your head lately? ;)

ND requires plates front & back so as soon as the vanity plates come in they will be installed.

So, what's the "sports car" driving season up there? 'Bout 60-70 days? I'd say a convertible Corvette is about as practical as tits on a boar hog ... but more power to her! If she "can" ... why not? Kinda like Bubba with his shoe box sized Bimmer I suppose. ;)

We are a lot tougher up here Thump, in a decent year she should be able to drive it nearly 6 months, turn on the heater and might get a couple more.

I almost got vanity plates when I got my new truck and then decided against it. They make shit like that too dang complicated in Oklahoma.

I thought about vanity plates. BUT here they make you pay a lot extra for them each doggone year. They also have some "specialty" plates you can get....supporting non-game animals, or somekindof flower, or your favorite GA University, and stuff.....but they are a bunch extra each year aslo. SO...we just go with the "regular" state issued tag.

ALSO.....Georgia only has the tags on the back...no requirement for a front taq.

Those things sit REAL low and I'd think they'd make one heck of a snow plow! Shoot, I couldn't even take mine through an automatic car wash ... one, it sat too low and would hit the rails ... and two, the dang tires were so wide (18") they wouldn't fit between the rails anydamnway. ;)

The only time I tried to get vanity plates was in California. I drove a 4wd Toyota that had a 3" lift kit and 28" tires. Since we had to run front & rear plates ... I tried to order vanity plates that read: 3M TA3.

The thing sat so high, I figured whenever I was behind someone, all they'd see in their rear view mirror was "EAT ME"! DMV caught it and declined my order. :(

Front plates aren't required in Florida, so it wouldn't be as much fun here. ;)

I'm sure that had never been tried before!

Yeah, I assume so Postie ... I went through the whole process of filling out the forms etc and the computer kicked it out immediately.

I tried to tell the clerk I worked for 3M (Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company) and was a "Technical Assistant 3rd Class ... but she wouldn't fall for it. :(

So.....is this the plates that are on the way???

Jimbo, you are correct about that dang thing sitting low. It's about like climbing into a go-cart.

As for plates, my suggestion was TYM4FUN but not sure if it ended up that way.
