The boy is playing in Norman as I type on OU's field. He got recruited to come play for a 19 and under tournament team to be a pitcher in this annual showcase tournament. He's ALMOST 15. The other boys on the team are either incoming college freshmen or have already played a year of college ball. We will see how it goes. I hope he doesnt over power them with his 83 mph fastball! At least he can change speeds so hopefully these gorillas wont hit him too hard. Here is a picture. He is in the yellow sunglasses.
maybe one of you techie mods can turn the picture for me!

Bucky, call me an under achiever, but I just want 4 years of college paid for. Captain, thanks for the photo flip.

Hard to do when colleges just get 11.25 scholarships for baseball.............and usually split 'em all up. Maybe you need to think bigger..........as in "4.6 Mill Signing Bonus"..........

If so, I'm happy to assist. :)

If he's that good now, he should not have any trouble getting a scholarship someplace. I have a niece that had a (I think) 100% scholarship to play softball at Wingate University. It's a small school in North Carolina......certainly not in the SEC....but a "free ride" at any college these days is a blessing.
:thumbsup

Edit......
SO...how did the lad do against those gorillas?

He got to take it easy and played 1st base. Should take the mound tonight. They did win 3-0.

Niner, Wingate is a VERY nice, expensive school.... I am impressed.

He went in to throw relief today and did very well. It was a loser of a game and he went in to try and salvage an inning that our pitcher couldnt get out of. Bases loaded with zero outs. And these guys could hit. He got out with no runs somehow. He only threw 1 inning so he will get to go at OU tomorrow or sunday. He looked so little out there.

Hope he pitches well and doesn't pick up any bad habits from those older kids! That's quite an honor for his age to get selected for a deal like that.
