New Air Conditioner

I think I told y'all we'd had to replace one of our air conditioning units here a while back. So I got a quick education on stuff like variable speed compressors, SEER ratings, and rebates. We've always had pretty high cooling bills in this house in the summer and as a result we keep our thermostat turned up as high as we can manage so the dang things (we have three units) don't run 24X7. The old unit was installed when we built the house and had a SEER rating of below 6, and the new unit has a SEER rating of 17.5/96.5 efficiency and is a two stage unit. Because the thing has a low speed function that essentially dehumidifies, we've had to turn our thermostat from 73 all the up to 79 just to keep it from being too dang cool in the house. It does run some on the high speed side but not nearly as much as the old one. I can't wait to see our first electric bill to see how much our usage has dropped.
Hell, if I'd have know this I would've changed the damn thing out long before it ever went out. As it is, I think I'm going to change at least one of the other two units out next year!

I never thought I'd be comfortable in this house at 79!

I changed both if mine out 2-3 years ago and easily saw at least a 10-20% savings per month.

I can't hear it come on. The old one sounded like a jet plane. This is a 19 SEER rating. I have to turn the thermostat to 78 and cover up with a blanket to watch TV.

We have a very energy efficient furnace, but who needs AC up here, now an then a ceiling fan may be required. PS, we ain't go no snakes either:stirthepot.

Mine would freeze us out until lightning wiped it out. Insurance paid for it and I learned I should have gotten way more involved in what they replaced it with. I don't even know what the ratings are but that sucker runs 24/7 and won't cool the house below 80-82 degrees on REALLY hot days. I can't afford to replace the damn thing. Heck, a new one may pay for itself with the energy savings, but the only time we suffer is August/September ... so it's hard to pull the trigger. I wish I'd have studied up on these things before they replaced it. The "tonnage" is the same as what it replaced, but sumpin' just ain't right. :(

Wattage too low. Boost capacitor wattage, and add a hyperdrive ventilating spiral shaft.

Either that, or stuff ice cubes in your shorts.

I got's HOT stuff in my shorts (and it ain't poop!) so the ice wouldn't hold up. Why didn't you mention the boost capacitor earlier and save me an extra trip to Home Depot?
