Just a hint of things to come, we've had a very cool summer, trees are in good shape, should have some nice color coming in the next few weeks. Enjoy the fall of 2014

You can start to see some change, first day of fall, weather still very nice.

If you look close you can see our first frost (in the shadow of neighbors garden) Colors seem to be right on time this year.

At about 100% but we just got done with a week of rain and wind, lots of color is on the ground.

We spent the weekend in Oscoda, which is on Lake Huron. I noticed that the maples were really starting to change up that way.

Man, I love this time of year. I spend the last two weekends out in the Shenandoah. Except at elevation up above about 3k feet, you're about a week or so ahead of us.

That's really pretty, but ..... I thought trees were meant to be green year-round! :biggrin

Sorry Jim, I've lived where there aren't four seasons. Great places to visit. But, you can keep it.

So .... why do all the Yankees eventually move down here and stay until I eventually end up buying their stuff at an estate sale? ;)

I dunno. You'd have to ask a Yankee.

You think it's a migration of the snowbirds but it's really a subversive Zionist plot to control Florida.

Man. I've been everywhere.......but Florida is one spot I don't care to ever go back to........unless I get a chance to go to Cardinal Spring Training or something. Flat, hot, oppressive, filled with idiots, monotonous, concrete block houses of all things...pink ones....just an ugly place. Never changes.

I wish you'd tell the dang Yankees that Bucky! It's that time of year and the train headed south is about to hit the tracks ... or should I say, I-75 & I-95! :(

I could adjust to being a reverse snowbird, I think. Spend a hot summer in Fla fishing the flats for tarpon and other inshore fishies. Then go have a nice cold winter up nawth.

Mow the leaves, Bubba.

Or I can come do it for ya!

Yankees "sweep" their leaves Buckster. What'cha wanna bet Bubbah has a lawn sweeper in his garage?

The bestious Tarpon fishing is in February in Islamorada...
And yep I got the hook up on that too! 😊

So Cappy, I would LOVE to catch me a tarpon or shark or ??, is that one of those arm and a leg type trips?

jb
10-23-2014, 10:51 AM
nope, I use my lawn mower to cut the grass and pick up the leaves at the same time, drop the mulched leaves and grass in the field you see in the picture.
Looks like I have a couple of weeks to wait till I can do that, as I only like to do it once.
Sometimes I get snow before I can do it, in that case it waits till spring.

Buckrub

Do you guys realize that if you leave the dang leaves alone, that come spring they'll be magically gone?

I was just thinking about this post on my way into this morning. We're at that stage where the color is fantastic, but the leaves come raining down with every puff of wind. Gorgeous time of year.

Headed to the Ozarks next weekend to gander at the leaves and will eventually work our way down to the Winding Stair in Kiamichi Country. Hope it doesn't blow them all off the tree before then. We're not close to peak yet though.

You know ... the old Good Hunting Halloween party pretty much died out after Helen abandoned us ... but I hope this annual treat continues, Thanks for the pics Bubba! You need to start a new tradition. The first time you get HEAVY snowfall, you should dig through the old threads and resurrect this one for the grand finale! Icing on the cake, so to speak.

Go back to the first post Sunny (beginning of the thread). He adds new pics as an edit to keep them all together on the initial post. He only makes a new post to move the thread back to the top of the page. That's the post you're looking at.

Sheeesh! Blondes! ;)

Well Thump, it's not a heavy snow, but the first that stuck around. Snow and temps in the 20's and low 30's all next week. May see green grass in about 6 months.:nightmare:
