I thought I've heard all the folklore there is about hunting and fishing, most of it true to some extent. There's a local guy that's family has been in the fish business for 50+ years and he told me, " catfish are harder to catch in months with an "R" in it. Now I'd heard to only eat wild rabbit in a month with an "R" but never about catfish. Eddies comment about a poor catfishing trip brought it to mind. Any of you old timers have any experience in this area?

QA, I've heard that one, also, but sometimes I just go catfishing, anyway....especially, when my buds call me, whether it's an R month, or not.
Also, heard the same thing about only eating raw oysters, during months with an R in them....but, if they are on the table, smell good, and look good, I'm gonna dig in, even in July. ;)

I only eat steamed Oysters in months when someone sets them in front of me, or fried oysters, or raw oysters, or oyster stew....
