I remember the first eruption well. I was managing the Cadillac dealer in Hollywood, California at the time. After the eruption, Southern California was being flooded with used cars/trade-ins from Washington. They were a frigging mess as the ash was so fine, it got into every bearing on the car and trashed them. We quickly began refusing to purchase (or accept as trade) any cars from Washington.
