Buckrub, btw thank you again for that ammo. I'm down to just 17 rounds now. I've killed a pile of big game with it. Once it's gone it's gone for good as they don't make it anymore. Can't even find the bullets to reload it. Bummer as it worked real well out of this rifle. Once it's gone I will have to go on another lifetime quest to find the perfect bullet/load combo.

I don't think Bucky ever let's his rifle out of his sight. Probably sleeping with it as I type this.

BS, Hornady has changed that powder. The new stuff is even better. Hodgdon makes it. Called Super performance, or SPF.

Hornady makes many cartridges with it. But, it appears they no longer offer it combined with Interbond bullets. You can get those nasty SST's in it. A bummer. I have X boxes of SPF/ interbond though in .270.....With X being a fairly large number. It wasn't ever made for the .257, so I just shoot accubond in it.

BS works hard at it. The way we did it for 10 years was more fun than anything I've ever done. I miss it terribly.

Excellent shot placement, BS!!! :thumbsup
I guess that goat must have fallen on his face when ya shot, causing his bloody nose. :biggrin

Congratulation on the nice goat.

Very nice pic composition with the wild flowers in the foreground.

OH! One more thing... Your camo doesn't match.

Still waiting on the details.......
The detail are in the same place as Posthole's Dogtooth trip report.
It's a VERY top secret place.

Guys I actually wrote a whole article about it that will be published on Long Range Hunting's e-zine soon. Can't really give out too many details until then.

Buck rub I'm very familiar with all Hornady rifle ammo. I'm on a pro staff that is sponsored by Hornady. It is good ammo, but what I really loved was the bullet/powder combo, and that SF ammo just doesn't get'r done like the Light Magnum did.

Troy, if I might ask....what caliber, projectile, and powder are these wonder bullets you've got?
Who knows, I might have an idea or two for ya.

Niner, they were 165gr Hornady Interbonds. Hornady had a specialized way of loading the powder via some type of rotating filler system, and some special blend that they never made fully public. They dropped the ammunition and have switched over to Superformance Ammunition which you can buy Superformance powder for. I haven't seen Interbond bullets for a while either and I don't know if they are still making them.

Interbond bullets are readily available, as component or cartridge in SST. Just no cartridge with Interbond and SPF. Also don't know about 165g interbond at all. My .06 is a safe queen.

Light magnums are history. Wild fliers in everyone's gun except yours. :)

I didn't have good luck with the interbonds, I got no expansion. I shot a couple of deer with them and got very little tissue damage. Could have been a bad batch, but wasn't going to risk it on a big buck. One, a big doe just turned and walked away like I had completely missed. Walked about 200 yds into a briar thicket and bled out. Went to Federal Premium in a Nosler Partition and never looked back. I'm sure the Hornady's are excellent bullets, I just prefer to stay with one I trust.

So fill in an ignernt Okie on something. I notice he has a point on his left antler (horn?) and none on his right. Is there a name for those points and do they typically have one on each side? Is that somehow counted when measuring? What is usually looked for in a trophy, the length, spread, or what?

That's a purty animule.

I am assuming 165gr 30 cal???

I, and several others in my "group" have had very good luck for over 30 years using Sierra 165gr SBT and IMR4064.

Very accurate, and deer are generally DRT.

Oh! I have also tried some of the 139gr Hornady SST projectiles. Loaded them in a 7mm-08.
Kilt a deer with it, but no expansion. Same size in and out holes.

BBP, it's the digger blade and it's on both side of this lope, it's just that it lined up perfectly with the camera and you don't see it. Yes it is part of the score.

Interesting.

It was poor or no wound channel that made me abandon ballistic tips. Interbonds solved that problem, blood everywhere. Huge holes.

Digger blade, thanks.
