View Full Version : Veteran's Day Buck.....

Not much of a "story" to tell. Was about to shoot a big fat ol' doe for the freezer, when I suddenly saw a pile of horns coming up out of the thick stuff.

Luckily, Di was here to help with the loading and to take some pics.

I have been deer hunting since 1970, and I have NEVER killed a buck that I have considered "worthy of mounting"....until now. This bad boy is going in my den!

A couple of years ago, I thought I'd never be able to deerhunt again. Well, as the military guys say, I had to improvise, adapt, and overcome. I am still able to get a deer, but I have had to learn a lot of new and different things to do (like putting zippers on my boots instead of laces).

One kind of neat thing..........as I was headed to the processor, I noticed the time on my truck's clock. It was 11:11am.

Is that a split main beam in the right side or just a funky brow tine? Either way, it's cool.

Those are probably the coolest deer pics I've seen in a long time that didn't involve a kid and their first deer. It really makes me happy to see them knowing everything you have gone through over the past couple of years.

Even with this awesome buck and story, I really think we should not be handling Co9 with kid gloves here.

He IS very ugly and his camo matches worse than an asian mini-mart proprietor.

He hasn't said a word since posting this. He's prolly still trying to drag that thing out'ta the woods with his walker. ;)
