I'm only 100 pages in but 6 Frigates is a great read so far. Just what the doctor ordered. I'm learning, it's a great story and the writers style is effortless for me to read.

Who wrote it? Dr. Seuss? ;)

Is that considered cussing? Are you cutting back and only working the fringe areas now? ;)

Glad you like it. The parts describing how they went and got those living live oak keel knees from the barrier islands off the Carolina coast is a pretty friggin awesome story just in itself. No wonder the Constitution is still in service.

Gonna order it directly. Caught a program on the History Channel the other night that went into detail on the construction of the American heavy frigates like the Constitution and how the use of live oak instead of the usual white oak that the Brits had available made such a difference in ship strength. Very interesting. O'Brian also went on at some length about this in one of his books (The Fortune of War, I believe).
