I cannot leave y'all alone for a couple of days... :D
Drove out to Mattamuskeet yesterday and fished about 3 hours. Water temp was 43 degrees and had a pretty tough wind. Almost did not go out, but decided to give it a try. There were 3 of us and we had one of the best days fishing I think I ever had. Although we didn't keep count there was rarely a cast that did not hook up, we easily caught between 100 to 125 fish. We took puppy drum, trout, rockfish, and white perch. Got up this morning and had a cold but clear daybreak. The ducks flew well and we shot well. Just got in and ready to rest!

Well, I passed YOUR (beach) house today. Stopped to see if Minor might be home, but the house was dark and no vehicle was in the carport, so I guess he was out gettin' in trouble someplace. I took Lynn on down to Saltwater Cowboys and the hostess looked at me kinda funny. Then she called the manager and he eyeballed me up and down, then asked, "Ain't you the dufe that hangs out here with that Cap'n dude sometimes?"

I tried not to look him in the eye, but he busted me anyway and showed us the door. Dang! I then had to explain to Lynn what a bad influence you are on me and how we ended up black-listed. :D

Man, I miss duck hunting. My oldeSt had a hankering and he's getting a shotgun for his birthday next week. So, I hope to change that.

Nope no buffleheads either.
There would be no hunt if we shot coots. Those things don't even fly when we are shooting at ducks. There are thousands of them out there. The hunt would last like 5 minutes. When you are out wading picking up ducks those coots literally swim right beside you almost within grabbing reach Unless there is a separate limit on coots I see no reason on wasting a shell on them.
Does this help ID them???
PS don't count... 4109

Ummmm, looks like 13 to me! Odd number for a limit ... seems like an even dozen would make more sense. ;)

Don't you go through Raleigh? I thought you did. Maybe not.

The closet I get to Raleigh is mile marker 107 on I-95. Exit 107 Kenly which is just south of Wilson. There's a great BBQ place at that exit called Stormin' Normans and we usually eat lunch there on our way back.
If you can run to there I'll be glad to meet you and pass the flying livers off to you. I gave these away last night as soon as I got back. :D

I'd say he had a 50/50 chance ... get mom's genes and win ... or get dad's and .... well, let's just say he lost big time. :D

Bite me!
And I told you not to count. That's what happens when you wade flooded corn and can't find every duck you shoot down. As soon as you shoot your last bird and go out to pick him up you "find" one that you thought swam off earlier.
