Little help? I was in the tavern business for 15 years and before, and during I collected beer cans. Traded lots, sold a few - probably ended up with 1500 - and when we sold the bar - gave them all away.

Friend of mine got his hands on a six pack (or did he tell me 12 ?- I'm into the Jeremiah Weed ;) ) of Falstaff cone tops (empty) but still in the original cardboard box. He says the paint on them is perfect except for some minor rubbing where they've touched the box.

Any indication to value would be appreciated..

thnx.. g

Wait, wait, WAIT ... many people make the mistake of looking at eBay for prices ... but have no clue what they're looking at!

Dang Hidey-Ho ... those could bring some major $$$. First off ... when checking eBay for prices ... DO NOT simply go to eBay and search for your item. What that does, is brings up the items that are up for sale/auction ... it does NOT show their value. I can list a can for $1,000,000 ... that doesn't mean it'll sell for $1,000,000! I can also list an AUCTION for a STARTING bid of $0.99 ... that does NOT mean it's worth $0.99 ... or if there are 5 bids for that item and the bidding is up to $10.00 ... does NOT mean it's worth $10.

IF eBay is used to find the worth of an item, you have to see what their final sales prices have been INCLUDING shipping, as the total is what one is willing to pay.

You also have to compare apples to apples and not apples to oranges. If a can sells for $50, that does not mean a 6-pack is worth $300. The fact you have a complete 6-pack with box COULD mean it's worth $1000 (arbitrary figure just for explanation). Who knows? I don't normally have the patience for auctions and generally put up a "Buy It Now" price (after researching worth), which means I just list at a price I'm willing to take and simply SELL the item for that price. If I have no clue what my item is worth, THEN I'll auction it (with a reasonable starting price) and let the market determine it's value.

Here are the final (SOLD) values for what has been listed lately. I'm no expert, but I'd guess the value of a complete 6-pack with box would be a LOT more valuable so I'd lean toward the auction route. (JMHO) Of course, condition is EVERYTHING ... and it sounds like your buddy is sitting on a small goldmine there!

Recently sold: Again, include what the buyer also paid for shipping (click on item and see what shipping charges are included). That's the true "value" as it shows the maximum the buyer was willing to pay.
