I know a lot of you are Cards fans, but I'm surprised no one has mentioned that Ernie Banks passed away. One of the all time greats. "Let's play two."

I remember him from the days of listening to baseball on the radio as a kid. But he was a Cub so I didn't like him too much.

Players like Banks though, showed how sports can make a difference. He played during a really scary time in our history especially in the big cities. Through he way he played and the way he lived his life, he rose above all of that and really provided a positive leadership examplethat we'd all be better people if we followed. Imagine if young people followed his lead instead of some rapper.

He was a goodun! (even though he was a dang Cub)

One of the few players I remember seeing the only two times I went to a ball game in Chicago.

RIP Mr. Cub.

Great player. Loved the game, loved the fans. He and Ron Santo are about the only two Cubs I could stomach, but he was a good 'un. A really good 'un.
