Booming, lightning, and sleeting like a big dog. About 24 I think temp wise. Verra verra strange.

Hopefully we'll change over to snow soon.

No icectospeak of here thank goodness. i think down home they're getting hammered though.

It was pretty cool. The lightning looked blue green through the clouds. I'm not sure I've ever seen it sleet that hard. You could have made a sno cone just standing out in it with a cup. We prolly got three inches of sleet amd another inch or two of snow on top of that. We needed the moisture.

Stupid question ... when does sleet become hail? I know the science behind the two is a bit different, but does sleet become hail once the chunks reach a certain size? Never thought about it before.

Haha I was wondering the same thing last night. This wasn't the little sleetballs you normally see. This was like the frushed ice in a fountain drink raining down in sheets. Strange goings on.

Pretty sure hail is associated with summer time weather events, and sleet is associated with winter time weather events....just my scientific wild-azz guess, however. ;)

I always figured that sleet was freezing rain and hail was frozen rain. All a matter of timing. :D

I think hail and sleet are frozen afore they hit the ground. Freezing rain is liquid that freezes when it hits the ground.

All I know for sure is it's been COLD AS FUCK DOWN HERE!!!

I think we're finna get nailed with a winter storm today. Gotta get to Costco to stock up on meats and stuff today. Now I'll have to do it with 14,000 of my closest friends

Never got above 0 yesterday, low was -14.
We got about 4" of new snow but when it's that cold the snow is real light powder and makes for nice blowing.

High of 16 here today and 6-7 inches of fresh powder. Still pouring and looks like it will for the next 18 hours or so. Wind makes driving tough, visibility sucks.

Spectacular weather up here too Sunshine! Warm, no wind, sun - GREAT! Blooms popping out all over but it might actually be a little early. I think winter still has something in store for us.
