Show is one of my favorites, excellent writing, casting and set! They sure were a ruthless bunch, the ISIS army of that period in history.

I wish this was on for 3 hours every night for months.

This is the best TV I've seen in many years.

I don't watch TV news (much).......or "Network TV shows" (much). I watch a lot of TV........college sports, Cardinal baseball.......movies.....specials.

After last night's episode, I can't wait for Ragnar to give old King Eckbert the "Spread Eagle" treatment, too.

You have to admit, the Vikings have a stunningly good kill ratio in battle. I think for every Viking killed, they kill about forty'lebben enemies. With that ratio, me and Posthole could wipe out ISIS in their entirety!

Yeah........IF they lined up like the stupid Englishmen did! And all wore the same color uniform.

But yeah, they were savage folks! Sparta comes to mind........ but these guys were good farmers too. And good at manufacturing stuff. Hard to believe they morphed into today's Swedes! (just kidding)

And Thump didn't jump on Ed's "Spread Eagle" comment?

He must be off buying a coat or something.

We went to 'The Vikings' exhibition at the museum in Victoria last summer and really enjoyed learning about the real vikings. They were more traders and explorers than raiders but they did a lot of that as well. Tough bastards but I'm sure the show is a 'little' over dramatized. Still enjoy it, mind you.

Well, I couldn't remember the exact term the show used for the torturous punishment that Ragnar exacted on his betrayer, last season....sounded something like "Spreading the Eagle", or "Shadow of the Eagle", or some sheeit like that....I just remember Ragnar sliced open the guys back, exposed his spine and ribcage, and told him, if he screamed, that their god, Odin, wouldn't let him into Viking heaven....he musta wanted to go see Odin real bad because that tough s.o.b. squirmed like h3ll, but he never screamed.

When the deed was done, the dead guy's shadow looked like a soaring eagle because his arms were in the air, and those flaps of his skin looked like wings....it was a day'um gory and bloody torture, which lasted for hours because the guy was still alive, while Ragnar was executing him !!!

Pretty tough way to earn your way into heaven. Wikipedia-The blood eagle was a method of execution, that is sometimes mentioned in Nordic saga legends. It was performed by cutting the skin of the victim by the spine, breaking the ribs so they resembled blood-stained wings, and pulling the lungs out through the wounds in the victim's back. Victims of the method of execution, as mentioned in skaldic poetry and the Norse sagas, are believed to have included King Ælla of Northumbria,[1] King Edmund of East Anglia,[1] Halfdan son of King Haraldr Hárfagri of Norway, King Maelgualai of Munster, and possibly Archbishop Ælfheah of Canterbury.

Yep, that's it....especially tough, when you're still alive, and witness the whole day'um procedure, and don't wanna scream bloody murder.
