"Quick Reply" smiley insertion question

If'n I hit 'Quick Reply' and type whatever..........and then click "insert smiley", I only get about 5 choices, none of which make a lot of sense, they aren't the normal ones. And it's on a screen that scrolls way to the right further than I can 'see'......and I can't escape, or get out of it. Only way out is to insert one of those smileys which takes me back to my Reply, then delete it.

If I start a thread, or whatever, I see a lot of 'em and [More] over to the right. So that works. But not in Quick Reply.

Yep, it's done that to me many times ... intermittently. I used to lose the whole reply as I'd have to close the window and try again. Now I just insert one of the unwanted smileys, close the smiley window, then open it back up, delete the unwanted smiley and insert the one I wanted.

Like I said, it's intermittent and I've learned to live with it. For some reason, I never thought to ask here ... but it used to frustrate the heck out'ta me before I learned to work around it.
