I can't help thinking how this technology could have changed Viet Nam. Or the Revolutionary war, for that matter.

And we can't hit their leaders as new ones keep getting 'elected'..................

Not sure about 'Nam ... heck, I don't think the FLIR could see through the jungle canopy ... 'course, that's what Agent Orange was for!

Looks like the smartest thing to do with that FLIR technology would be to just lay down and play dead !! ;)

When I was in the military way back in the Dark Ages (no pun intended) we had "starlight scopes" ... which is basically what those are Buckster ... they amplify any available light (stars. moon, artificial light) and give you some night vision capabilities. On a moonless, overcast night ... we couldn't see nuttin'!

The massively advanced stuff we use nowadays is FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared Radiometer/Radar) and man-o-man what a difference ... as seen in some of those shots in the video. Man, that technology is neat!

Yep, yours are closer to it Muddy.

I bought a Gen 1 monocular thingy from a guy one time, years ago, for $60.00....long story but I was basically helping him out. As a toy, to just piddle with, it's sorta kinda neat. You can see but there really has to be more than just starlight to make anything out. All green. But you CAN see something....... I forget them, mostly. Too bulky to carry to deer stand (all pockets stuffed with bullets and toilet paper!) but around camp, sort of fun for a few minutes.

I'd love to have the real deal. I wish someone would buy one of those for me............... :(
