I heard one of our local newscasters (one that's been around for 20 years) refer to the University of Arkansas as the University of Arizona. I'll give him a break and assume the teleprompter guy is the one that's an idiot.

I run into people on a monthly basis that confuse the abbreviations for Alaska, Arizona, and Arkansas (AK, AZ, AR). I've had important documents mailed to Arizona several times because I filled out a form and used "AR". I now spell out the entire state even if there is only space for an abbreviation. My son and I race BMX bikes and at out-of-state races we've been introduced more than once over the loud speaker as being from Ward, Arizona. "Arizona? You guys came all the way from Arizona?". No, dipshit. We drove over from your neighbor, Arkansas. Remember us? Gets on my last damn nerve........
