I can't say I love or hate snakes. I don't like them in general. But a WATER snake is about the freakiest weirdest thing I can think of. They gimme the heebiejeebies. I've got a chill just watching that.

I was digging nightcrawlers once down in a river bottom and raked some leaves back and a puff adder rolled out of there and all my brain could latch onto was COBRA! I done thought old Nag was gonna eat me.

He sure knows where his meal ticket is, doesn't he? That's pretty cool. Reminds me of a big ol' Indigo snake I found and caught on a Boy Scout campout once. I brought him home with me and he lived in my bedroom. He got so tame, he'd actually climb in bed with me in the winter and crawl under the covers with me. My room had no heat other than a small space heater, but I seldom used it. I love the cold, him not so much. Anyway, one day he decided to go exploring outside of my room. Note .. my room was on a small landing all by itself, between the first and second story. He had my mom trapped upstairs. She finally managed to get downstairs, got in her car and went to my grandmother's house (her mom), then called and said she was NOT coming home until we found that snake! Funny thing is, once I got home from school, I never could find that bugger! Mom was gone for 2-3 days before we finally convinced her to come home. We never DID find that snake! ;)
