I was digging through some more of my estate sale finds, to make a few listings tonight, and pulled out this old radio. It's pretty dirty and needs to be cleaned up, but it works. It has no cracks or breaks and is in pretty fair condition other than needing a really good cleaning. I've been trying to research it, but show none have been listed on eBay recently ... either on the sold side or the listed/unsold side. So, I went to the net and only found ONE that has sold and has the selling price listed. I'm assuming they're a bit rare. Here it is ... it sold for $595.00!! WOW!

Now here's mine ... I went "out on a limb" and gave $20 for it. I don't know how well mine will clean up, but I seriously doubt I'll lose anything on this deal. Cool!

It may be butt-fugly, but it's worth $600 and cost me $20!

Here's the description of the one that sold:

MOTOROLA 56 H "Turbine" (1956)
An extremely hard to find Motorola "Turbine" model. Fabulous jet age look with bullet turbine front end.

Now THAT'S salesmanship!

But there's a huge difference there ... you're butt-fugly too ... but worthless! :D

Ah, Posthole ain't totally worthless. I'd trade a case pocketknife and a bluetick coon hound for him if he'd work in the hayfield.... ;)

He's too old and broken down to throw a bale of hay these days. Maybe he can just ROLL some'a those newfangled round bales. ;)

Just don't let him drive one'a those high dollar tractors ya' gots there. Remember, he has an Okie driver's license ... prolly bought it at Sears-Roebuck.

Well dayum again! Back to the subject of this post. I just listed that radio as a 10-day auction and within 20 minutes I've had two cash offers if I'd accept a "buy it now"! One simply asked if I'd accept an offer and the other came right out and made an offer of $200 from the get-go. I declined their offers and told them I'd rather let the auction run it's course. This could get interesting! :D

Dang, I just listed this radio 10 hours ago as a 10-day auction. So far I've had 3 people contact me asking if I'd cancel the auction and just sell it to them outright. I declined all offers and chose to let it ride. Early this morning someone has committed to my opening bid of $95, so the auction is on! (most wait until the last few hours to start bidding). On top of that, it's on 15 watch lists already. I'm not sure I've ever listed anything that drew this much interest in such a short period of time ... especially on a work night! This may be a fun ride ... but a loooong 10 days! :D

The cool part? I have another old radio here that I bought many months ago and simply set on the back burner. I suppose I should dig it out and see what it is. I know I have it ... I just don't remember what it even looks like. I'm sure it's nothing like this one, but who knows? Then again, it may be worth $7 (according to my file, I paid $2). Things like this is what makes this gig fun and interesting. :D
