my boys bought me an electric smoker for fathers day and since I'm all by my self this weekend, I thought I'd give it a spin. Right now I have some salmon in orange juice, bell peppers and chili cheese hotdogs cooking away at 225 degrees over applewood chips. I'm new at this so I'll have to use it a lot to figure things out.

Anybody ever smoke ribeye then finish on the grill? Don't know if it'd work but it sure sounds good

I've smoked a ribeye before over pecan at about 250. I didn't finish it on the grill but it was one of the better pieces of cow that I've ever eaten.

I was really pleased with the initial run, lots of flavor very few chips used. The bell peppers were really good as was the salmon. I cooked in aluminum pans to minimize clean up and still got lots of smoke flavor. I'm going to try bacon on it next, maybe put some squash below it to catch the drippings

Last time I ran my smoker, I smoked some sea salt and use that when I grill steaks. Good stuff...
