View Full Version : Another Bucky Stupid Question

What can I use to make a 13/16 plain old standard socket fit in a battery powered drill?

(which makes me wonder whatever happened to Bwana's battery drill fiasco?)

I use scissor jacks on the camper to stabilize it better than the built in electric ones. Or in addition to, I guess. And I have to get on my knees (harder and harder) and jack them up/down, back and forth. That works, but I bought a "scissor jack adapter"
http://www.amazon.com/Camco-57363-Leveling-Scissor-Socket/dp/B001V8U12M
that I thought would be the cat's meow for raising and lowering these.

The dang thing will not fit my scissor jacks. It's like when the metric and SAE sizes are close but you got the wrong one, you know? It's an 'almost'.

But I did try various sockets and the plain old 13/16 (also known as spark plug socket) works fine. But....um.. can't find any adapter that will make that fit into my drill. Went to Lowe's, even.........struck out. In effect, I want to make the part in the link above out of two somethings.

Is this so simple I can't see it?????

Not sure what size you need for your socket, but they make air wrench adapters for drills for about any size socket. Lowe's ought to have them but maybe you were looking in the wrong spot? Look at the air wrench accessories.

air wrench adapter....... hmmm. I did not look in the air tool section, no. Thanks.

Sunny, wimmin are not supposed to know about duct tape or WD-40. That would remove men from being of any use to you guys.

Purchase a cheap 3/8" or 1/2" drive extension about 4 inches long, depending on the size of your power drill....put it in a vise, and using a hack saw, cut off the female end....it will then fit perfectly in your power drill....my napa store has a grab box, and those cheap extensions are like $2 bucks.

You know, Edward, I sat and thought about that in Lowe's. Held that in my hand, thinking, clearly not long enough!! :) That is the only thing I could think of, but clearly I did not think of cutting off the end!!!

You're a fart smeller...........

All shaved and purty lookin'! I was headed out the door and decided to check in one last time before leaving. You need a "driver extension socket adapter".

I've made these things for myself, but I usually have some un-used extensions just laying around.

Thump's link is a good idea, too.

they sell those everywhere, Lowe's, HD, harbor freight, Ace hardware, Northen tools, etc. Did you ask one of the guys in tools? If so and he could not find it they need to take him to the back of the store and give him a whooping..

I find them just by walking down the aisle and when
I get close they light up.

They make the cordless drill adapters in 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drives. I have all three got them at Lowes or Home Depot.

I use them with all my cordless drills and cordless impact driver.
Very neat trick.

I just found 'em at Lowes. They were nowhere near the sockets and wrenches. They were with the dill bits, and I didn't look there before.

Sometimes I feel pretty stupid.

I was going to give you the same advice that eddie did but it looks like Thump has it ALL figured out.

As for the drill fiasco...it took literally months of hounding them but finally made the right connection and they replaced the faulty 1/2" drill with one that works. Kept the bonus 3/8" drill/driver for my efforts too. Needless to say I won't be buying that brand of tools anymore.

Good eye Barry. Got up at 4 this morning and caught 68 bream, 2 bass and one catfish. Turned the bass loose and gave the bream and catfish to a friend. He is suppose to be emailing me a picture. He wanted a mess to keep.
I was catching 2 and 3 bream on one cricket (my record is 4 on one) I been on the tractor since 10:30 and just called him. He said he is still cleaning fish.

I'm either going tomorrow morning or Friday, depending on when my pussy whipped fishing partner (who lurks) can get a kitchen pass.
