Drone owner got just what he deserved....drone shooter got screwed....put the word out, don't hover in my day'um yard or over my porch.

I'm sure the drone had gps, and the owner located it, right away....the guy shoulda hauled azz with it, and dumped it, elsewhere. ;)

I agree it would have been shot down in my yard to if it was hovering underneath canopies and looking in windows

Man, I'll bet the cattlemen's association here would love to have a drone service for security. They're stealing cows like crazy around here, especially now that calves are worth so much.

Problem is you dont own the airspace over your house. This seems to be a work in progress but I doubt that at any time soon any city/state or federal law will allow you to shoot one down without repercussions....
However, the evil me sides with the shooter...

Sounds like a good reason to keep a wrist rocket around.

Drones do have legitimate applications. Inspection and monitoring for about any business that has right of way is one big one. We used to pay to have our entire fiber route flown once a week back when companies did that sort of thing. Cost cutting and self healing networks have made that less critical. Drones could make it work and it'd cut down on fiber cuts and all kinds of right of way incursions. There's tons more. But they don't need to be peeking in our windows.

Of course, Larke will say if you ain't doing anything wrong you don't need to be worrying about it. But folks around will shoot them down in a second if they're used for any kind of surveillance.
Watch and see if some municipality doesn't write traffic tickets ising them to monitor intersections. It'll happen. Wait and see.

They could be used for instantaneous inspections of Iranian nuclear facilities.

Or they could monitor the border with Mexico.

Or you could lure a lion out of a nature park with a pork chop tied to one.

Then you could kill it with a spear!
