NT, my butthole always draws up, when my rice gets to that stage....that's when it's most susceptible to getting beat down to ground from wind and rain....it can usually handle the wind OR the rain, but not both at the same time.
And, I always dread, even the mention of the word "hurricane."
Hope you dodge all the bad weather, and have a good and safe harvest!!!

Thanks guys, and Muddy you're correct, I'm very nervous ! We're gonna start in the mud, hate that, but it could be worse !

Captain, I sure wish I could share, we were actually like you in 2010,11 and 12m but been very wet ever since. Here a picture, in front of the tractor, where the rice grew without being watered .......unheard of.....crazy wet, it's now the wettest summer of my lifetime, and hell it might not be over !

Best of luck with harvest, always a stressful time of year but it is rewarding to see things progress as the hours go by.

I am not a great shot.

I can call well.

I also went to school with Eddie Holt.

And I miss talking to the ducks.

I have a custom pit in one of our fields. My wife's cousin uses it. I would go, but that field has had, for many years, a large invisible (not to ducks) Red "X" that is written in Duck............and the ducks light elsewhere (very close), but never there. I stopped wasting my time in the late 70's (when ducks would light in a parking lot if you spit on it), and my son stopped wasting his time in the early 90's. Yet my wife's cousin, otherwise an intelligent man, continues to drive from Indiana to use it annually. I laugh at him.

Yet still, I miss talking to Suzie.

It was my dad and I only real hobby together. We went 24 opening morning together, countless days, numbers ofyears and hunted several States too. When he finally got to old to go, I gladly retired also. However, I did go a few times last year at the kids request......ugh !

Several states...................... ha.

I get tickled at the Yankees in Mack's when duck season is open. Or Stuttgart Walmart, even. They are SUCH jerks!

We'd go North and follow the migration south. Always intended to start in Canada and come south but we never made it that far.

You should take me.

I'm probably his age. And most likely just as cantankerous.

I have not hunt for ducks since early 2000's. It just conflict with my early SC deer season.

In PR we had the blue winged teals like you have mallards here, then green teals, ruddy ducks, whistling ducks (those are huge!), white cheeked pintails, red breasted mergansers were not uncommon, and I probably forgetting one or two. Mallards were shot occasionally.
