Yeah, but too old to be a Rookie, and not consistent enough. Still, he has potential, and glad to see him do well. When Grichuk and Holiday and Jay get healthy, Pham will be Phorgotten.

too old to be a top prospect. But definitely a rookie. Not a future star but a solid 4th outfielder or contributor, a notch below Jay for average, and above Jay for both power and defense. He was a rising prospect but has had a consistent run of injuries in the minor leagues.

A great definition of "Trade Bait".

Watching him play, its pretty easy to see why he gets injured so much. The guy plays balls out every single play. Man I hate to see those head first slides too. His worst injury was that quad strain that he got trying to make a diving catch. And speaking of, he made a helluva diving catch last night.

I agree he probably won't be a starter when Grichuk, Holliday, and Jay get back, but he's given the Cards the offense they needed to replace those guys. He's certainly done more than Moss and Garcia combined. the Cards started out the year trying to improve their bench. Pham will be a monster off the bench.

And what happens to Piscotty when those guys come back? First base? Holy shit batman, what do we do with Mark Reynolds?

And I think Piscotty is the next Cardinal great, ala the really great ones. If he don't get traded first.

I hope they don't trade Piscotty. Hope Grichuk heals up and doesn't have to have surgery. Definitely will be a roulette wheel lineup if all come back for the stretch run

Adams is next one back. Thank The Lord! Then Moss is released. Reynolds off the bench. That's 1B covered. The other option is to trade/release Reynolds and keep Piscotty as a 1B/OF relief. He'll be starting next year because Holiday WILL get hurt again.

Grichuk is kept over Jay because A) he's better long term and B) he makes less money! Jay can be traded, he's good enough. Plus, he's not the 'chemistry' player that the others are...........

A lot depends on what happens with Jason Heyward in right after this season is over. Does he go to free agency or does he extend? Not sure if he's a gold glover this year but he's been a force in right, and lately he's hitting well in the clean up spot when he was tasked with it. Only sixth year in the majors. About to hit his prime. Man, that's a 50/50 proposition. Keep him away from the friggin Dodgers please. He could fix their Puig problem after the dodgers trade him (and they will, watch).

I hope there's a spot on the bench for Kozma just purely from a 'rooting for a good kid froom Owasso' standpoint. He's been contributing mainly as a base runner and defensively but I think if he could get the reps his bat would wake up. He had an awesome srping and was really heating it up in April until he got hurt and hasn't been the same since.

Agree on Heyward.

Not on Kozma. He's been given 4 years to produce, and he's terrible at the plate. Just awful. Sadly for the guys you root for sentimentally, this is a Results league. Do it or go.

Just 25 slots, and 12-13 are pitchers. Not many places to sit at the table.

You read this for the active roster, and tell me who is a Great Buy, and who needs to go based on salary. Remember, there IS a cap on total salaries available, period, no matter who you want.

And remember, Waino makes $19M, and Holiday $17M, and Lackey will make $16M if he is kept...........and then Adams is a "First Three Year" guy and at the bottom too. Someday soon, these bottom guys are going to either have to be paid, traded, or let go. Some of them are coming up on End-Of-First-Three

1 Yadier Molina 15,200,000
2 Jhonny Peralta 15,000,000
3 Jaime Garcia 9,375,000
4 Jonathan Broxton 9,000,000
5 Jason Heyward 8,800,000
6 Lance Lynn 7,000,000
7 Steve Cishek 6,650,000
8 Brandon Moss 6,500,000
9 Matt Carpenter 3,750,000
10 Randy Choate 3,000,000
11 Carlos Villanueva 2,000,000
Mark Reynolds 2,000,000
13 Peter Bourjos 1,650,000
14 Tony Cruz 775,000
15 Trevor Rosenthal 535,000
16 Seth Maness 530,000
17 Pete Kozma 522,000
18 Michael Wacha 520,000
Carlos Martinez 520,000
Kolten Wong 520,000
21 Kevin Siegrist 518,000
22 Randal Grichuk 510,000
23 John Lackey 507,500

Another good point (but I think it's Sept 6 this year, not sure.......depends on if Minor team is in playoffs).......

Kozma is safe for this year. If he does a miracle, maybe.............but I doubt he's invited back.
