Len, I have the Shimano Stradic ci4 in a 2500 and really like, but I want a smaller reel to go with my ultra light St. Croix rod. I'm looking real hard at buying the Shimano Stradic ci4 1000. Originally I had a tiny Quantum Smoke on it, but the drag crapped out in less than a year and it had another super annoying design flaw. The line would constantly get caught up under the spool. I mean like every time I went out it would happen a time or two, and I expect it had something to do with the drag breaking. Anyway, I know you have one those ci4 1000's, does light line get caught up under the spool on your reel very often?

It hasn't happened yet (unless it was totally my fault). I sometimes take the anti-reverse off for various reasons and I've messed it up like that but it's never happened when just fishing all regular like. It performs just like the 2500 in every way. My other rigs are starting to get a little jealous when they only one I grab quickly is the 1000 :)

Both of my go to rigs are Symetre 1000s. I have a 2500 Stradic that hardly gets touched. I just put it on a better rod and I promised myself I'd fish with it more. But those ultralights are just fun as poop.

I hear ya... My 1000 is on a 6ft med lite rig so it's not really an ultralight but when compared to the 2500 on a 6'6 med lite, the difference is significant.

Thanks Len, I think I'll pull the trigger on a 1000 before the end of the month.
