Talk about dead! I guess P-hole is "attempting" to catch fish and Bucky is watching his cohorts plant worthless food plots at their camp. That makes for some "quiet time" around here! :D

I'm plugging away on eBay trying to eke out a bit of supplemental income and trying to finish up in time to catch the debate tonight. I'm sorry, but I love a circus and can't wait to hear Trump step on his dick 10 or 12 times and watch his ratings shoot up even higher tomorrow. He needs to be re-named Teflon! ;)

Anyway, not too many of you seem all that interested at this point ... but I'm looking forward to some entertainment tonight!

Watched the whole thing from beginning to end. It started out a bit silly and nasty (like a couple of teen aged girls scratching and pulling hair), but it finally settled down to a semblance of seriousness. I can't say I'm any better off after watching it and after all was said and done, I wish I'd have watched Mike & Frank on American Pickers instead.

I do have to admit ... I got a little more insight into some of the others (besides Trump) ... but nobody stands out as a front-runner yet.

Man I've been covered at work and the farm, and trying to get a little hunting in. We actually had a little cool snap in the mornings that have made things nice. Now if only we could get some rain, I'd put in some food plots.
The debates at this point offer me no interest....
If elections were held today I'd vote for Trump just because ANYTHING would be better than Billary......

Got my food plots in last wednesday, got 5/8ths inch of rain that evening and another inch saturday. Seems like every seed germinated and is looking beeeeeeutiful which is a lot better than last year when it stayed dry for a long time. Was most disappointed in my governor's response too the Iran situation when he said he would wait too see how things were developing before he would take action.

I watched until about 10pm. If the primary tomorrow, I'd be checking the Fiorina box. Trump mostly came across as a pompous blow hard with no specifics on how he would accomplish anything. What was up with Cruz and the way he kept saying "Khomeini" and looking creepily at the camera? It's even funnier than Bush I and "Saddam". Bush III just seemed too vanilla. I thought Rubio, Christie and Kasich did well enough for me to want to learn more.

I think the clock is officially ticking down on Trump now. Someone woke Jeb up, apparently.

When I watch something like this my mind wanders to the coaching and practice sessions with their respective handlers that occurred before the debate.

"No Jeb, more awake... give me wider open eyes... now point your finger!"
"Cruz, look for the blinking light on the cameras, look in to that one and give me 'the look'...No, not that look, yeah that one!"
"Donald, stop doing that with your lips for fucks sake!"

How's that compare with Trump's multiple bankruptcies? I will say that my opinion is based solely on debate performance. Obviously, the primary is not tomorrow and a lot more will go into my decision than how anyone did in a debate.

Yes, but he's been close and he's certainly lost a lot of other people's money through at least four corporate bankruptcies. Neither Fiorina nor any of the other candidates have declared personal bankruptcy either. What's your point?

You know if the election was today I'd HAVE to vote for Trump if he was against Hillary, that said I will also say I cannot STAND the way he looks like a spoiled kid and has a sour look on his face. He just looks (to me) like HE thinks "I said it so it should not be questioned" I DO like the fact he is wealthy and secure enough to say what he wants, and to hell with the cookie cutter politician answer. I just wish he would say it in a less condensing way...

Agree with you there. Nearly Every question that was raised to him, he basically ignored and took a personal shot at one of the other candidates.

His opening remarks about Rand Paul was quite a start to the debate.

I'll vote for him against Hillary. But I won't be all that happy about it

Here's my take on Trump. I can't even imagine him in the White House and I agree, whenever he's asked for details on HOW he's going to do something, he dances around the issue and never really gives an answer. Or he says he's working on a plan right now and will be releasing the details in (fill in number of days here). When asked things like how he'd handle someone like Putin ... his answer is, "Putin would LOVE me, I think we'd get along great ... he'd LOVE me!" WTF?? Yeah, that should work! He's a pompous ass in a BIG way, but people go crazy over him because he's a circus show and will say what they've been THINKING and would LOVE to say, but haven't the balls to do so. I can "think" Fiorina has a mule face, but I'd never in a million years say it out loud ... at least not in a public arena or to her face. Trump will do it at the drop of a hat (and DID!). Some people respect that, but it's just not the way civilized humans act for the most part. We may THINK it, but we keep it to ourselves out of common decency and general good manners. Right or wrong ... I'm not really sure. I suppose that could be considered "political correctness" in a way. And people are sick and tired of "political correctness".

That said, the only thing in the back of my mind is this. I picture Trump as an ass who will always demand things be done HIS way ... much like a spoiled little brat. BUT ... and this is a BIG but and something to consider ... who's running his multi-billion dollar empire while he's out campaigning? Obviously he knows how to put the right people in the right places AND has no problem delegating. In my own, personal career, I took a management course (one of many actually) and one of the main things I concentrated on was allowing myself to delegate. I always thought if I wanted it done right, I had to do it myself. It was VERY hard for me to learn to hire good, trusted employees and allow them to make decisions and carry out tasks that I felt only I could do correctly.

You can't expect the President to know everything and the best way to carry out certain tasks. He's not God and in a way, he's a figurehead. If Trump can hit the campaign trail and dedicate 100% of his time to the endeavor, all the while leaving his empire up to his management team to run, don't you think he'd be able to put together a good Cabinet and surround himself with professional advisers ... AND let THEM do their jobs? We haven't really WON a war since the WWII if you really think about it. Why? Because all of a sudden, politicians started controlling our wars from some plush office in Washington. The Generals and the men fighting always have one hand tied behind their backs. I KNOW ... I've been a part of that and actually LIVED it during 'Nam. I envision Trump letting his Generals run our wars and he'd be telling them he'd get them whatever they needed to get the job done ... if they ask for it ... he'll GET IT FOR THEM!

As for bankruptcies, he's never filed personal bankruptcy. He has used his brain and his business sense to bankrupt certain of his properties. Hey, how many thousands of people lost their homes and/or businesses when the economy tanked? He had casinos that were drying up on the vine. Who the hell could afford to go to Jersey and gamble when their own business was on the skids and they were fighting to keep a roof over their heads? He was smart enough to pull the plugs when they needed to be pulled, instead of dumping good money into a bottomless pit. There's nothing illegal about it and it's a business move used every day. Sometimes a business can't exist as it stands and needs to be restructured ... or plowed under. It's life, live with it. As a side note, I once worked for a multi-millionaire in Beverly Hills. I was sitting in his office one day and we were just discussing a future business venture. I made a comment about how it really took a set of balls to do what he was considering. He looked me square in the eye and told me he'd been bankrupt twice in his lifetime. He then told me he knew almost every millionaire in Beverly Hills (and he really did) and he couldn't name ONE who had not filed bankruptcy at least once in their lifetimes. He went on to explain a successful businessman has to take risks to get ahead ... it's many times a gamble and you just have to try to weigh the risks against the rewards. NOBODY can hit it 100% of the time and sometimes it bites you in the ass. BUT .... success is measured with how well you recover after picking yourself up off the ground and dusting yourself off. To be honest, the guy was a total asshole ... but I always respected and admired his "business sense".

I wish I had a crystal ball to look into the future. On one hand, I'd really like to see what that Trump nutbag could pull off. On the other hand, he scares me and is actually an embarrassment in a lot of ways. But NOTHING and NOBODY could be worse or more of an embarrassment than what we have right now.

I agree with the thought that he knows business and is smart enough to get things done. I think much of his bravado is just the usual bluster he generated to "bring in to" a deal he had to make.

Still, unless we had an eject button to get his ass out of the office within 30 days, I'm not sure I want him anywhere near the oval office.

CD's opinion is........interesting. I'm not in love with Trump.......but the one thing I see others liking about him is his directness, and actual plans, not just platitudes. He is the only candidate.......maybe EVER........that says actual plans. For example:

Bush: "America needs to come together and work for a common purpose going forward".

So, Jeb...........what do I do? Specifically, what do you want ME to do about that? It's just b/s talk.

Trump: "We will build a wall X high and Y long from Point A to Point B, and secure out borders totally". Agree or not, this is a concrete proposal, with measurable objectives, and talks to an issue on the mind of every white american male, and tons of others!

I see a huge difference.

I can't say anything about Trump that hasn't already been said. He's refreshing that he speaks un-PC, but that's where it ends. Beyond his straight talk he doesn't seem to have any substance. It was a good way to start the race but we're at the point now the answers need to have details. His answers do not.

At this point I would probably vote for a Rubio / Carly ticket. I'm with CD on this where I thought Carly came across very well. The fact that she laid off 30K people really doesn't sway me. At least it doesn't sway me anymore than Trump laying people off and taking businesses through Bankruptcy.

Buckrub

Carly was a total incompetent boob at HP. I've seen her style at........um.........the company at which I was previously employed. I wouldn't vote for her if you paid me a dollar.

And boy, I need a dollar.

What they do in a "Group Interview" (that's what this is.........it is NOT a debate.......and it's almost meaningless)........is immaterial. Who I envision sitting in that chair, daily, and holding press conferences.........and working with Congress..........that's how I vote.

One more thing I'll vote for anyone who would

1) Institute a flat tax simplifying the tax code
2) Return majority rights to states - thinking that every state should act the same is ridiculous both (Financially (mimimum wage) and culturally)
3) Return SS to SS and not a ponzi scheme to pull money from
4) Ensure government assistance programs are designed as short-term assistance and not long-term crutches

These are probably my top 5 issues. The Iran deal scares me but honestly I've only heard the talking points on it not really read. If we truly are allowing self inspection and returning $120B that would be up there too....just not as educated on that.

Interesting as well. You pick the one semi-concrete proposal he's come up with. Of course, when pressed for details on how we'll pay for it, how long it will take or how we'll round up all the illegals and deport them he has nothing. Well no.......he doesn't have 'nothing' on that. He said he'd withhold $280M in current aid to Mexico, and use that to build the wall. Seems specific to me.

But there are things he's as vague on as anyone else. That does not obviate the fact that the others have no measurable proposals at all.......not even one. I might be wrong, I'm not paying a LOT of attention, I admit! There's 400 days to go, and what happens now won't even be remembered Nov, 2016.

No matter what, Trump has changed the rules and is different. I've long advocated the need for the Chaos Party if we're to ever change anything. He apparently has invented it. Well, I invented it, but hey........the only BILLION I got, is debt! :)

Other than no to the Donald (who I will freely admit I've despised long before he ever ran for President), I haven't come close to deciding who to vote for. It does frustrate me that here we are 4-5 months before the first primary and 14 months before the election so many folks seem to be jumping on the Trump bandwagon mostly it seems because they think he can beat Hilary (and he's an asshole who says whatever the help pops into his head) when Hilary is imploding and may not even be the candidate.

Buckrub

Oh.........and I tell you what I really listen for. My 'deer ears' are turning and perked ready to hear this kind of thing. It's one of the only reasons I pay attention to what they say:

If a Candidate (for any office, but especially POTUS) proclaims he WILL do X and Y when X and Y are clearly outside his legal and Constitutional purview, at that point I make a very dark and clear negative check mark against him. If he says "I think WE ought to do X and Y", that's different. Then I know his opinion on the matter. But if he says he WILL accomplish this or that, but he can't, then I know what I'm dealing with.

The biggest one of these is the Tax Code. If a Candidate says he WILL reform it, WILL abolish it and start over, WILL implement a radically new way of taxation (e.g., Flat Tax), then he's an idiot. Only Congress can do that.

I do have the benefit (or curse?) of some insight into what or how the other half thinks due to that exposure. I get the frustration that leads people to Trump. Really.
