Surely your drought has ended....seriously, hope you aren't getting flooded.

Very little so far Eddie. Maybe a quarter of an inch yesterday and last night. .16 in the gauge this morning. But they say we are fixin' to get hammered. I drilled pastures yesterday and actually got in a deer stand for the first time in forever. Looking like today is gonna be a washout if the news folks are right. God knows we need every drop.

It's starting to look like most of the precipitation is going to skip Captain once again. Man, farming is a tough business.

Hopefully you'll get some ground water this fall and winter so at least you can start next year even instead of in the hole.

Our droughts come in multiyear cycles here. Not sure if its the same there or not. hopefully not!

Thousand-Year Rains Possible in Carolinas; Joaquin Headed North; Epic rainfall likely for South Carolina

The black areas are the predicted 1000 year rainfall areas:

That's some serious cows pissing on some seriously flat rocks!

At least there's some capacity in the ground and in the creeks and rivers and such and it won't all just run off. At least not for a little while anyway.

This has the makings for dangerous stuff.

I hate it when they say, 100 year flood, 200 year flood 500 year flood and now 1000 year. Horseshit !!!!!!

Those folks in the Bahamas are prolly thinking it's a 5000 year flood....that thing has been grinding on top of them with 130mph wind and torrential rain for the past 36 hours....I can't even imagine what they are going thru....I'll take my drought ANY day.

I hope we get some Eddie. I've been outside working all day. Had a couple of heavy mist/fogs come though but not enough to even get 'cha clothes wet.
Maybe later tonight.
I must not be doing something right if I can't even get rain out if a hurricane! 😁

They say we are inline to receive 12 inches of rain between now and Monday morning.
That is unheard of.

Thank goodness that big bastage has made a 180 and is headed back out to sea....but, not before regenerating up to a Cat. 5....weather ho's say it's gone, and I sure hope it doesn't take any detours back toward the U.S.

I think Cap's drought has been broken....now, let's work on mine....tomorrow will be day #90 for us without any decent moisture, and nothing is even in sight for another 2 weeks....that's 3 frigging months!!!

If its headed back that way, I guess Bermuda must be right in its path.

Posty, you may know that answer to this... But I wonder what that storm did to the coral reefs in the Bahamas. Aren't those big storms known to tear the shit out of them? Covers them with sand, thus killing the coral, right?

I dived in Grand Cayman not too long after a big hurricane came through there. Most of the visible damage is to sea fans and gorgonians and other soft tissue corals like that. Hard corals do get silted but usually wave action cleans them off.

I'm sure there's a lot of reef damage but most of it will recover in a few years.
