We making it. The flooding has missed the NC farm but spanked our SC farm's ass... The river landing is a total washout, minnow tank, tractor, mower, shed, etc all gone with the wind. (Or water).

"Officials are worried life-threatening impacts will only worsen as the 1-in-1,000-year rain event continues. Authorities said hundreds of people were in need of rescue Sunday as the floodwaters kept rising all over the Palmetto State. Columbia, the state capital, was the hardest hit."

Better get your flood policy out and start going over it. You might be surpirsed to find out it don't cover rising water depending on who your coverage is with .

I'm good, I'm down at the farm and everything is to wet to make repairs. But as soon as it dries out I've got some filling to do around some creek areas. That's about all the damage I had there.

WTF! First you dont get any rain, now, you have way too much rain in a very short time... Not sure I have any skills that might help but just let me know if you think I can lend you a had...

I can paddle. That's a good skill. I can even do it with that load of BBP in the front of my canoe.

Did you for real lose an entire tractor to the flooding? That pretty much sucks!

Nandy
10-05-2015, 06:29 PM
Well, I hope he means the tractor is in deep enough water he cant reach it, if he lost one that is a big chunk of money, hope insurance covers if so... We have had water in charlotte, but I have good drainage around me, even thought I am in a "holler" I have no problem when it rains BUT ice kills us as we are going uphill to get out...

Thumper
10-05-2015, 06:35 PM
Well think of it this way Nandy ... if you weren't in a "holler" ... you'd have a problem going uphill TO GET HOME! :D

See? Now your glass is half full. You're welcome. ;)

Since Bucky is not here I'll do the math on this 1000 year thingy.

It means that there is a 1 in 1,000, or 0.1 percent, chance that such a rain event or flood will occur in any given year. There are also 500-year and 100-year rain events, which have probabilities of occurrence of 0.2 percent and 1 percent, respectively.

Nandy, were good at the farm. The tractor and shed and mower was In Columbia SC at the river where we striper fish. They are just covered. With water. Cannot even see if they are there but I suspect they are. We also had a 500 gallon minnow tank there with a really nice filter system and I'm sure it's gone. Hopefully the water will start down soon and we can see what we got to do down there. I'm headed down to Georgetown next weekend (the 17th) to see what's happened to everything down there, and if possible try my luck at some Bull Reds... :D

Potsie, "muerdeme"....

Larke, I was trying to remember where that river was at the farm in SC but could not remember, was about to pull a googlemap but work was busy. Now I know why I dont remember it..
Anyway, hope the tractor is repairable, as long as there were not large debris and those big arse tires did not make it float I would guess is still there. Let us know what you find.
